Now I know that I have not been tagged but I have always wanted to do this beauty blogging.

I know I am uber-obsessed with makeup and beauty products since i was 18.

So i just wanted to share and find out about YOUR items in your beauty bag/toiletry bag that some of you may carry in your handbag everyday.

So let me start the ball rolling =)

So the bag that i carry is a knockoff Agnes B little pouch given to me by Azimah of my Green Chicks brigade.

Its small but it carries so much. Too much sometimes. ;p

Neway lets take a look inside :
I have a MAC studiofix powder in NC40 for touchups.
Then of course i have a blush as well, frm MAC too in the shade DAME. This is in a satin finish.
I have (and let me tell you i dont knw WHY) SEVEN lip products in my bag.
I have Lancome's L'Absolu Rouge lipstick in shade 278 (today's choice)
Then i have my bright red lipstick frm sleek makeup in stiletto, a great matte colour. I also hv Stage makeup's lipstick in Heidi, Maybelline's pure Watershine lipstick in shade B23.

The other 3 products are a lip balm frm Kiehls, Sleek's pout polish in powder pink and a Revlon Superlustrous lip gloss in nude lustre number 040.

I have a liquid liner frm Sephora. Felt tipped. An avon BLACK liner and a retractable blush brush frm sephora too.

Essentials! Blotting paper frm Gatsby and also pantiliners for obvious reasons! Hehe.

Holy Cowabunga!

How long has it been since i last blogged. I think i left the blog in a fit of anger, angst and sadness.

I "think" its been more than a year. I've moved on.

Its Been Awhile

I know its been some time.

Forgive me, I have been really preoccupied.

What with setting of exam papers, vetting, trying to complete the syllabus, and also marking exam papers.

The bane of my existence.

Marking 240 over scripts is no joke.

Especially if youre marking compositions.

Thankfully all has been completed.

Its lovely now.

I've got some time freed up and weekends are FREE of marking!!!

Last week i went cycling with the boyfriend just to blow some steam off after a hard week of work.

Boy was it good.

2 hours of cycling up and down various terrains.

This week i plan to go again with bestie Huda whom i haven't seen in months. Possibly close to a year!!!!!

And she lives nearby my sch!!!!!!!!!!!

Preposterous i know.

Cant wait to cycle =D

Semester I 2010

The semester is ending soon.

The mid-year exams are coming.

I am tired.

Twenty6

Yes, i turned 26 on the 8th.

With some fanfare and excitement.

My corny but oh so adorably sweet bf gave me the best surprise.

He came up with all this crap and nonsense about needing my help and asked me to get ready in 20mins.

So the man arrived (and of course i hear his bike before he actually calls me)

And i think,

"OMG does he REALLLY think i'm gg to fall for this surprise nonsense?"

So i arrive downstairs and he said that he got into a bike accident.

Considering that his brother got into one, I was pretty wary.

He did show me his stiff left arm.

I swear my heart dropped.

I thought he fell and fractured it.

Then he was going on and on about something on his bike that broke and he asked me to check it out.

Now of course at this point I was thinking:

"Is he for real?"

I was STILL pretty suspicious.

And lo and behold, there was a small paper bag with my present in it.

I just grinned.

I almost broke into tears.

Never had a man to do such corny and sweet stuff for me before on the eve of my bday.

Got a nice dinner bag, a bracelet and a brooch.

i LOVE the bracelet *the most of course*

OHMAIGAWD

I'm turning 26 in a few days time.

This year, the hyperventilating attacks have lessened.

I have no reason for it.

But it has come.

Today.

I. am. turning. twenty6. on the eighth.

There were so many things that I was hoping to do by the time i was 26.

I "thought" i was supposed to be married with one child by now.

I "thought" i'd already be in the teaching profession for two years by now.

I thought about many things i would have achieved by now.

But i always seem to forget the most important things.

I forgot to think about being grateful for all the things that i have.

Like family,

friends,

my boyfriend,

a stable career,

a roof over my head,

more than enough food to eat,

the clothes on my back,

and the bags that i can afford.

Its always one or the other.

And we have to make peace with the things we are dealt with.

Its just not time yet.

And i have to learn.

Keep learning

and

remembering these lessons.

Of Medical Certificates and E-Learning Days

I spent the whole of last week getting my students to arrange their files and to get them in order.

Till today, i still get:

1) Files that are NOT in order.

2) Files with content pages not filled in DESPITE me putting it up on the whiteboard for them to copy.

3) And people who STILL owe me FILES.

all this crap caused me to get what the Doctor diagnosed as tension headaches.

Its not a migraine.

It just throbs uncontrollably in the frontal lobe area and my temples.

Then this migrates down to my neck.

So I've got sore muscles in the neck area, like when u get *salah bantal*

A crick in the neck.

Which also causes nausea.

*sigh*

This is only the tenth week into my career.

I went to the hospital.

S*aiful looks strong. Really strong.

Alhamdullillah.

InsyaAllah he will be moving out of the Intensive Care Unit and into a High Dependency ward.

MasyaAllah, God is Great.

I'm really happy.

His whole family is happy and healthy, ameen.

And while I was on the phone with DK, i realised that its been ELEVEN months.

I know eleven months is a short amount of time.

But for me its a milestone.

Don't think I've gone this long ever.

And we'll celebrate one year together this 25th March

Earlier i remember sharing with A*zimah how i worried that we hadn't fought before.

We barely squabble as it is, just irritated with one another at times but that's about it.

And i really was starting to get concerned how we hadn't had a fight.

Now i'm counting my blessings.

Cos there isn't anything to fight about.

And for good cause, cos one of our biggest obstacles together is his brother's accident.

And i'm glad i can be there for him.

I'm happy that i can stand by him and his whole family

My mom and DK's mom were from the same primary school. They were both classmates.

And they still remember each other.

Today marks my father's 51st! bday!

My sister and I have decided that we will both chip in and get the OSIM massage chair as a combined gift to both my parents this year.

Practical and really something that NOT just my parents will use but also the rest of the family.

2 more days to DK's mom's bday too!

Will be picking up her gift tomorrow! =D

Week 4

It is officially the end of week 4,

Next week will be the middle of TERM 1.

Thankfully I'm not down yet.

It's been a long January.

I had my first observation this week.

I thought it went good.

Could have been better.

It's learning how to be a better teacher.

That's what it's all about.

Baby steps.

Small baby steps.

In other news, DK's bro is still in the ICU.

Its heart wrenching.

To see him hooked up to so many tubes.

And then to see his older brother breaking down everytime he goes into the ward.

Its too painful.

I hurt too.

Cos i can't help.

What a Long Week It Has Been...

Everything was normal until tuesday.

Tuesday at about 5pm to be exact.

I got a big shock.

DK's brother was involved in a very bad traffic accident.

DK was breaking down over the phone.

I couldn't be there.

I couldn't concentrate.

Let's just say the past week was a big BLUR of events.

I feel like my investiture was overshadowed by this bigger piece of news.

After the investiture on Wednesday, i rushed to the hospital to visit his DK and his family.

Everyone was in bad shape.

The mom, the dad, and his younger sister.

All distraught.

When i went into the SICU, i almost broke down and cried.

It is completely heart-wrenching to see anyone hooked up to so many tubes and lying there unconcious.

It is very hard for anyone to go inside the ICU and not feel pained.

And i'm not even related.

So i spent most of last week commuting from CGH and home/school everyday since Wednesday.

Although he may not be related to me, it still affects cos I hate seeing DK to distraught.

I kept waking up on Tuesday night waiting for a phone call/msg from him hoping to hear some good news.

The next day when i couldn't get through, i msged his mom, and alhamdullillah, by the grace of God Almighty, he pulled through the night and through his operation.

I've been hearing nothing but great progress and i hope S*aiful will continue to make great improvements in his recovery.

His heart is no longer on medication and he's back to pumping and replenishing all his lost blood.

He's also off the dialysis (cos previously his kidney failed to filter out the potassium in his body).

He has opened his eyes and tried to push out the tubes from his mouth.

(he's just as stubborn as his big bro =))

I'm glad that he's doing ok and i hope that his recovery will help to strengthen his family too!

Week Three

I am still trying to get used to waking up at 5.20am.

Yes, i think its a totally ABSURD time to be up.

I have to DRAG myself out of bed and get my arse into the shower.

Mondays are ESPECIALLY bad.

*super monday blues lah today*

Anyway, I think i OVERenjoyed over the weekend, thus causing my current Monday Blues symptoms.

Went bowling at NSRCC. The girls were bowling FANTASTICALLY.

I scored a strike TWICE!

S*ali got a turkey.

Lisa was bowling like wonderwoman.

Mimi was bowling better than average.

I was so ecstatic.

The girls were so ecstatic.

But going home was a chore cos it was so far.

But DK made it better in the end =)

He always makes it better

Yesterday i hung out with just the girls and did some shopping at I*kea.

Thankfully I had the car.

Spent quite a while at I*kea and just got silly.

And drove to S*impang B*edok for some chicken fajitas at spize.

Yummmyyyy.

By the time i got home i was too tired but i still had to do my lesson planning.

Shite.

I still need to come up with a FANTASTIC lesson for SVA (concord) and set a comprehension paper.

Working really hard.

Then by the time wednesday rolls around i'll have my convocation!

That means i have to be in school only till 10.35am!

Yahoooo!

Then i'll get to meet my Wi*wiiiinnnnnn!

I miss her.

and Mr. Fuddles and Keiko and Yvette and the whole GANG!

The misfits graduate.

Hahah.

Day 4: Mind-Boggling!

Spent 12hours in school today.

Unbelievable.

4 of my boys got caught for smoking this morning.

in UNIFORM no less.

And the punishment?

Caning lah.

Haiz.

Why they insist on smoking before coming to school in their school uniform is simply, befuddling.

But the bright side is, the rest of the class is AMAZING.

The boys especially were receptive, listened to instructions and carried out all my requests.

And i can't help but to have favourites already.

S*yah, A*marool and L*enny.

L*enny is so CUTE! Round and chubby and used to be from w*oodlands primary.

When i asked him who used to teach him and rattled a few names (one of them being my mother)...

He shuddered and said, "ooohhh that one fierce teacher."

I asked which one?

"Mdm S" (who is my mom)

I wanted to ROFL. Literally.

If only the sweet kid knew.

Class, today's lesson is...

6th of January marks my first day stepping into the class.

No easy task ok.

I still get nervous before I enter my class.

Anxiety washes over me, and i beads of perspiration start forming on my back and neck.

(thankfully, places that aren't visible to the students)

Today, i entered my normal technical class.

My sec. two normal tech. class.

One of them i remember from last year when I relieved his class (retainee).

My class is manageable (for now).

The form teacher to that class had already warned me:

"Please arh, don't smile at them for the first three weeks of school"

HAHA.

And it works wonders.

I only have this FEARLESS boy who just wants to TALK and TALK and TALK..........

Very annoying.

I punished him for talking. Made him stand at the naughty corner.

Yes people, naughty corner's still exist in secondary school.

When i run out of corners, i put them on the naughty corridor.

Heh.

2010, is shaping up to be a challenging year for me.

I am really looking forward to facing this uphill task of educating my charges.

Teaching as a newbie is like going for a buffet; you go in the restaurant and start piling things on the plate and soon, you feel like you're overwhelmed.

Back to School.

Like many school-going children going back to schools today, teachers also had to go back to school to facilitate.

And like the P1's, Sec 1's and J1's, it was my first day at school too.

I had been made a co-form teacher to a secondary two express class in my new school and i would be working closely with a more experienced teacher.

She just so happens to be a school mate of mine from JC and i am very fortunate to get her as my mentor!

For the first day, the normal duties would include the collection of report books and checking of uniform.

Alhamdullillah, the students are well-behaved (thus far!) and I hope that they'll learn to trust me and open up a little to me.

I start lessons proper on Wednesday, and as a teacher teaching only the lower secondary, this means that i'll only be preparing lessons for the secondary two normal technical students!
(sec ones still having orientation programs the rest of the week).

I had a really long day today.

Left the house at 6.35am, reached school at 7.05am, and left school only at 5.45pm.

Almost 12 hours in school.

Not fun.

All in the package i guess.

I have a whole slew of meetings this coming week.

Busy, busy, busy.

Fortunate that i have a job that pays well and gives me some satisfaction.

Its still early days but insyaAllah with some hard work and perseverance i'll be able to love the job even more.

It is no joke to be God's vicegerent.

The First 3 Days of the New Year.

What the hell did I do?

1st Jan, stayed home to sleep off the exhaustion, and did housework.

2nd Jan, met up with the Samirians for Changi Village dinner and ride.

Rode from CHANGI to Kranji Dam.

Then from Kranji, rode to the CCK cemetery.

Not funny lah.

The girls were pretty helpless, cos we were pillion riders only.

Sali and Bek sat it out.

Which left me, Lisa and Atiqah.

Luckily (or not) we went to only the Chinese cemetery.

And of course, on our way home i had the eeriest encounter.

My first.

But alhamdullillah nothing really that serious.

I wanna thank my DK for easing and calming my fears and sat with me for a while at the void deck.

But i have to say, the cemetery was calm and silent and actually looked pretty (in a photographer/poet) point of view.

It was melancholic at some point. Especially with the moonlight washing over the tombstones.

Somehow or rather, i was INSPIRED to write a poem on the back of DK's bike while we rode through the cemetery.

Heh.

Stupid or crazy, you judge.

Then today, the couples decided to go to the N*ational M*useum to check out the Egyptian exhibit.

Personally, i wasn't really blown away.

Mainly cos it was a small collection from the V*iennese M*useum with only about 230 odd artefacts on display.

And for someone who was a huge Egyptology buff, i guess i wasn't as impressed.

The part that really got me excited was the activities they stationed outside the gallery.
The little math quizzes, the games Egyptians used to play and their writing systems.

They provided papers and crayons for pple to do rubbing over some raised images and some rubber stamps in hieroglyphics.

I kept it and i'm going to put it on my teacher's desk hehe.

First day of school tomorrow.

With a staff meeting at 2.45pm till 5.30pm.

I seriously believe what D*ennis said:

We go to work before the sun rises and reach home when the sun sets.

New Year Resolutions for me?

Hmm...

A little hard to say.

But i will try my best to become a good educator.

One who will inspire, persevere and get students to be motivated to learn.

*self-directed learners i loike!*

I want to be able to survive my first year as a teacher, hopefully i don't make too many mistakes along the way and God willing, learn from those mistakes that i've made.

That's on my career now, on my personal life...

Let's see...

Well, time will tell. That's all i can say.

Maybe save more money this year? Less spending?

I want to increase my savings.

And take care of my health so that i won't fall sick too easily.

And i want to learn to be more patient.

Be a better daughter, sister, niece, grand-daughter, bestfriend and girlfriend

InsyaAllah.

Hopefully become a better muslimah too with all that's been said.

The new academic year is looming right in my face.

I got my class placements.

Exciting but at the same time SCARY.

2 sec. one express classes for english, 2 sec one normal academic classes for lit and...

ONE sec two normal technical english class.

So help me God.

i have NEVER taught a normal technical class.

i am excited about the prospect.

im just nervous about getting slaughtered in class.

must remember not to let my nerves get the better of me so they won't smell my fear.

i swear this was $$ well spent. saved a fortune on this 'cos i got my aunt to get it for me @ Champs Elsysee, Paris.

I think i saved about $400SGD

i took a pic of the locks for Kha

the card and the receipt. so pretty. the box and paper bag were equally pretty!
and it was SNOWING in paris when my aunt went to the boutique so i think this bag is pretty special.

Then on Xmas eve, the 3 couples went on a TRIPLE date. a triple threat i call it.
we're noisy (bikes AND people included)
and we don't seem to know how to NOT meet up with one another once a week.

i miss them a whole bunch if i don't see them once a week.

yes. i am emotionally attached to them already.

we all caught Avatar in 3D. I thought the storyline was ok. too much CGI. not quite a big fan of CGI. it was a little bollywood for me.

I think Hurt Locker was the BEST movie me and Ayie watched this whole year.

while SOMEONE took a smoking break, the 3 girls with Yas as the photographer attempted to take shots of us jumping.

Some successful while others weren't.

I on the other hand, after about 5 jumps or so, lost my balance and fell backwards, flat on my ASS in front of a dozen or so pple.

I think i scared the shit out of my friends.

Not so much as humiliated but tickled as I already knew i was gg to fall anyway.

So i lay on my back and continued my giggling fit while Yas took the picture of me lying on the ground laughing hard.

Ended the night with some nice hot teh tarik Gajah and rojak mamak.

Review: Bukit Putus New Highway

Probably only Kha knows what i'm talking about.

That's if she even remembers. heh.

Ok...on with the story.

Went back to my kampung on sunday mrng to pick my brother up.

(He's spent one month at my grandparent's place)

On the way to my kampung, there is this long winding narrow road, narrower than the road that goes to Genting.

It's called Bukit Putus.

It is not for the faint hearted.

At every sharp turn, 13 if im not mistaken, you look down over a ravine.

A deep, deep ravine.

It takes half an hour to get from the bottom to the top and back down the other side.

And that's if you're lucky enough not to trail behind a heavy laden truck.

Which in that case takes more than half an hour.

NOW....

There is a new road!

I laud the M*alaysian government for cutting through the forest (although it does not seem too eco-friendly) and paving a new highway to get through the pass.

It only takes FIVE minutes!!!

Why am i so excited???

'Cos for as long as i can remember, Bukit Putus has been a bane in my existence.

I hated having to pass through the winding and narrow road be it by car OR bus.

Yes i've taken a bus from Seremban to get to my grandparent's place.

ALONE.

And it used to cause me motion sickness all the time.

Very bad motion sickness.

NOT ANYMORE!!!!

I even drove up the road.

Excellent driving.

Though i would like to drive driving on Bukit Putus one day *gulps*

Licensed to...Drive!

About 2 weeks ago i took my driving test and i PASSED!

I am thankful i had a fierce instructor who only demanded my best performance every time i went for a driving lesson at B*ukit B*atok driving center.

Every lesson was a test and he never said much unless i made errors and how i should correct them.

And for that i am grateful to Mr. L*um!

I've been driving frequently especially since my parents have been away for Haj.

And today i drove all the way to O*rchard Rd with my sister (no supervision!)

and successfully parked at F*ar East Plaza.

Its a mean feat for me personally.

And i'm glad i've been able to do it!

And today i went shopping.

Was meant to do some top secret shopping but...

Urgh.

Ended up buying...

2 tops at M.ango and 2 books from B*orders today and a watch.
(Time Travellers Wife i bought yesterday, which makes it THREE books in 2 days!)

One of the books being this 2006 Nobel Literature Prize winner, O*rhan P*amuk (Turkey)

Titled The Museum of Innocence (translated by M*aureen Freely).

And another book by W*endy Wallace, Daughters of Dust.

Going to read it ASAP!

A Month of Celebrations!

There were a lot of things that have been going on for the past few week.

Been really busy with bridesmaid duties and my dumb induction courses.

But i have been able to plan the hen party for one of my bestest friends, Zakiah!

We had a Korean themed (okay maybe just in terms of food and entertainment) party =)

About turning 25...

I know my birthday was 7 months ago,

but i have to tell you some worthy self discovery that i've made some time AFTER i'd turned a quarter of a century old.

Its only when i turned 25 that i'd learn to be at peace with myself.

There was always something i wanted.

Or something i didn't like about myself.

But at the beginning of this year, I told myself:

there is no way you are going to screw this year up.

You are going to suck it up and take it as it comes.

The good, the bad and the ugly.

And somehow this little threat made to myself worked.

I was a new person.

I actually liked looking at that person in the mirror.

I liked what i was doing with my life.

Where my life was going.

Things seemed to be falling into place, amiin.

And this was BEFORE i met DK.

I'm glad he met me AFTER i'd found myself.

I'm happy.

I may have gained a few pounds but i'm happy.

*i may hv put on weight but i KNOW i'm fit. and i CAN still do a sprint!*

I take my lemons.

Make a little lemonade and smile.

I whine a lot but I DO IT ANYWAY!

and i GET IT DONE!

So thank you Allah for giving me everything.

The good, the bad and the ugly.

I hope that there's more to come.

And i'll take it all in my stride insyaAllah.

Oh and i've stopped worrying about what OTHER people think.

If im happy and i didn't do any major transgressions, that's between me and God.

I don't WANT to worry about other people.

I worry about myself =)

Make-Up All Day With Minimal Touch Ups!

In this entry, i'm going to introduce to you one of the items that will help you keep your makeup on all day!

You need two things:

1) a stippling brush

*this is just a dupe brush, any brand will do!*

and

2) a bottle of e*vian spray

*this retails for $5.90 @ W*atsons*

according to the label on the back of the spray, it says that with frequent use of this product, it increases your skin hydration by 14%.

Ok so normally people spray it directly onto the face, but after watching some videos online,

it seems that its better to spray it directly onto the brush.

So after applying ALL your makeup, take the spray and spray it onto your brush.

flick your wrist to get off the excess moisture,

then just dab it all over your face.

*repeat the steps if you feel like you need to reduce that powdery effect*

it prevents your makeup from having that powdery look after applying the makeup.

your makeup will even out and settle on your face perfectly.

I think this works well especially for those of you who use a powder based foundation.

And i do have to agree that this method really works!

My makeup doesn't slide off my face, and i don't sweat off my makeup.
*which was always the case in the past*

So i hope this helps!

Makeup Review!

The last time i wrote, I was talking about weddings.

And yes.

I have been very pre-occupied with weddings and assignments

plus handling the 'going-not going' deal with my parents Haj plans.

but its not really that clear right

i love how chiseled my cheeks look! =)

i look like i have ACTUAL high cheekbones

me and seri

u can see the makeup a little better here.

i used tulle (my pinkest shade in the palette) and washed it all over my lids,

placed the purple colour 'jewel' tone at the outer corner of my lids for a smokey look.

then using 'smoke' the shimmery light charcoal gray colour to further smoke it out.

i used a pencil brush to contour the eyes and of course a blending brush to blend everything out.

i used pink mauve for my cheeks to give me that flushed and rosy look.

very happy with the result.

colour pay-off is REALLY good.

for longer lasting eyeshadow use a primer!

i'm swearing by my primer now =)

spend that amt. of money on gd QUALITY makeup.

for tomorrow's wedding (Kak Hilmah's),

i'm gg to attempt a simple M*egan F*ox look to match my baju kurung.

now i just have to look for my songket baju kurung and iron it out.

Beauty Find!

Attention LASHES!

Sexify your eyes with this baby from R*immel!

I came across this product while aimlessly walking at B*ugis Junction last Friday.

The mascara wand doesn't even look ordinary.

Its got this weird looking ball shapes.

I love the colour of the mascara tube too! HAHA

The mascara is available in two colours, black and black/brown.

What the website says:

Volumises and curves your lashes in one deft stroke.
I think this is worth getting.

If i'm not mistaken it retails for less than SGD20 so you really get your money's worth.

Maybe i'll get this too when i hunt down my shu u*emura lash curler.

Next beauty find that i'm hankering to try is M*ajolica M*ajorca.
I've heard a lot of good things about its eyeliners.

So those of you who've tried it...LET ME KNOW! I want to know.

Its like a bad craving haha.

Still haven't gotten around to trying the Liz Arden set that I purchased.

Maybe tomorrow when i go on my last date with Ayie before he flies off to Thailand for his reservist stint for THREE weeks.

Date Night

We had planned to go out on a date but we had NO ideas planned out for the day.

So when we met up outside R*affles Hospital in B*ugis after i'd completed my field observation, we sat down and mulled over a few ideas before coming to a decision.

We both happened to have the same brainwave to head over to marina barrage but before we did that, we would have to make a quick pitstop at 7*-11 in arab st to buy some refreshments.

But even before we could stop by 7*-11, Ayie suggested that we just poke around the shops in front of sultan mosque.

It was then that we stumbled into the C*hildren's Toy Museum.

This place sells a lot of antiques. From refrigerator, helmets, peranakan paraphernelia, old notes, record players and even 70's television set.

We were BOTH mesmerised by one helmet that was on display and it was a mere 60sgd!!!
It was an old pilot's helmet complete with 2 drop down shades which i thought were SOOOOOOO cool!

So he's going to buy that helmet tomorrow.

Now we continued wandering around the shop and i thought, hey since we're going to be at m*arina barrage, why not buy some old school toys so we got the five stones and pick up sticks!

By this time we STILL hadn't gotten around to 7*-11 yet.

We were a little peckish now and headed to House of Briyani along north bridge road and had a late lunch cum early dinner.

By the time we were going to make a move, the skies had turned really dark and threatening.
So we had to ABANDON the m*arina barrage plan.

Rode as fast as we could to Toa Payoh to get my makeup from my cuz and ended up waiting at the void deck for half an hour.

*we were also caught in the rain right after we exited the KPE. dammit!*

So the toys we bought DID come in handy after all!
Especially the pick up sticks.

Once the rain let up, we headed to AMK park McD's and had some supper.

We got the EVM and talked abt the monopoly promotion that they were having.

So he said, "ok if we get the $50,000 we get married"

and at the same time he said that i said:

"you can get your harley"

and we started erupting into a fit of giggles!

Haha.

Sorry lah. marriage just didn't occur to me at that time =P

but i swear the look on his face was priceless.

This is my October purchase, gotten from the airport.

Sometimes you unearth the best treasures (and cheap too!) there

The set consists of:

1 quad eyeshadow and duo blush palatte

2 lipsticks; desert rose and soft rose

1 lipgloss in berrylicious

1 Lash extending treatment mascara

1 eyeliner in soft black

AND

1 lip liner in taupe

the palatte that im in love with.

mainly cos its this bright red colour!

this is what it looks like inside

a purple called jewel, a pink in tulle, a bluish grey a.k.a bubbles and a darker grey in smoke

2 blushes, one in pink mauve and pink sand.
can't wait to try pink sand!

here's a glossy lipstick

called soft rose

a silky finish lipstick, slightly darker and more matte

called desert rose.

Haven't tried the colours yet but once i do, i'll give u a verdict!

This whole haul came in at a grand total of....SGD59!

Its about as expensive as my M*ake Up Forever concealer palatte!!!!

This is definitely worth the money.

If you're looking to expand your makeup collection, HEAD over to the airport and shop at the makeup/perfume stores there.

Not only that, its TAX FREE!

Horror Story

Keeping in theme with halloween, i have my own horror story.

More like a heart breaking tragedy.

Last week i went out to town to have dinner with some friends.

Got to F*ar East a little sooner than i expected.

So i walked around, did a little window shopping and also went hunting for that vest i needed to get the S*amirians logo printed on the back.

Soon i had to use the ladies.

So i had to lug my bag and my laptop that i was cradling in my arms like a baby.

My N*EC.

So i placed the laptop on the ledge that they provided in each cubicle while i hung my bag on the back of the door.

I was trying to move around in the cubicle and....

I KNOCKED MY LAPTOP OFF THE LEDGE AND IT FELL WITH A HORRIFYING THUD ON THE TOILET FLOOR!!!!

I almost wanted to pass out.

Crying was also another option.

You see, i had just purchased the adapter and things were working perfectly.

and i JUST had to knock it onto the floor.

*sobs*

But thankfully, its working fine.

But i just found a horrible cosmetic flaw since that incident!

*aaaccckkkk*

The speakers are on either side of the hinges and the one on the right has popped out a little.

Its just horrifying.

I know.

So drama right?

(my favourite lipstick to date!)

i KNOW it looks like a LOT of product but it only took me half an hour to create the whole look.

My Trip to S*ephora @ I*on

Before i start i just want to say how excited i am to have changed my web browser! Hahah.

Ok so for those who follow me on my t*witter, i did promise you a review on the T*oo Faced S*hadow Insurance. So here it is!

Priced at SGD28 it is a steal! What this product does is that its like a primer for your lids. It keeps the the eyeshadows on ur eyes and helps it to stick to your lids for hours.

I tried it out on Wednesday. Wore a little eyeshadow to sch, a light brown as a base and contoured the sockets with a darker brown colour.

I had a date with my girlfriends which is why i went the extra mile with the makeup heheh.

Anyway, i periodically checked on the eye makeup and this product proved its worth!

All the rave reviews (esp. by M*akeup Geek who i follow religiously on Y*outube) have proven to be true.

This product is especially great for those with oily eyelids and perfect for application using matte eyeshadows.
For more pigmented or shimmery colours, you can still apply the product but use it a little sparingly i guess, making sure that you put it all over the eye area.

I think for SGD28 it gives you bang for your buck!

It comes in a little green tube and you'll have to remember to shake the tube first to get all the contents mixed first.

I didn't do that for mine and when i first pressed the tube, some of the oil seeped out.

So i impress upon you to give it a little shake first!

That wasn't my only purchase at I*on's new S*ephora.

I also purchased....

my second camouflage palatte!

This is M*ake Up For Ever's concealer palatte in No. 3.

They didn't carry No. 1 apparently.

So this was to replace my almost empty palatte that i first purchased in KL back in June.

Its lasted me a gd. 4 months which isn't too bad.

I especially like the creamy consistency that it has. Its not too oily either especially for my skin which gets a little greasy after a while.

The shade to conceal my dark undereye circles are fabulous.

I swear they do wonders for you especially after you've had a really long night mugging through an assignment.

It makes you look a little more human.

It also conceals blemishes well and for someone who has a LOT of blemishes let me just say it works pretty darn good.

With the different shades, you can mix it so that you get the right coverage you want.

here are the 5 colours in palatte No. 3

It's priced at SGD58 and its a little pricey but i would say it is REALLY worth it.

I'm still waiting on my Elizabeth A*rden travel palatte.

Will do another review for that when i get it

Note to Self.

When I finally get a house of my own, i will vow:

1) to get dark ceramic tiles for my toilet! (darker floors mean less cleaning!!!)

2) have a feature wall (one of a dark colour) and paste some decorative sticker in the event i can't afford to wallpaper some walls.

AND

3) have some nice looking light fixtures.

All this was a result of visiting kak Fik's house in W*oodlands.

I'm sorry i don't have any photos to share.

You just had to be there to experience her well decorated house.

I for one was VERY envious.

And it just made me long for my own little breakfast nook that i've always dreamed of.

Hello World.

Now that im slowly beginning to blog again, i can't believe that there have been so many mishaps that happened last week.

Thus diminishing my time to blog.

But i guess with those mishaps i actually have something to blog about! heh.

So last monday i went back to school after a whole week of mc.

Needless to say, i was way behind work.

i MISSED a deadline.

*now this was a complete shocker cos I've NEVER missed a deadline before!*

not to mention my stupid laptop adapter has finally decided to give up on me.

so much work to be done.

and i had NO choice but to resort to the home PC which is unbelievably slow, M*s Office not updated at all...sigh...

so many things that could have gone wrong went wrong.

so last week i was doing 4 assignments (did i hear myself right? 4 assignments)

all on this old PC.

Thank God its still working.

I also got a little lost in S*engkang.

Took the lrt from R*enjong and wanted to get to R*umbia.

Was supposed to get down at S*engkang but didnt noe i had to so i went the whole R*enjong loop again.

*slaps forehead*

so after doing homework on friday and saturday, (even waking up early on sunday morning to complete my remaining work), i treated myself to a well-deserved date on sunday!

With who else but the Samirians and my bf.

Things finally looked up at the end of the week. Which completely made my week!

Harlow....

Hmm i guess i must be still trying to get into the groove of blogging again.

But im having so many problems, on the technical side.

The wire to my laptop adapter has frayed so as i sit here typing with one hand, the other hand is holding it together so that i can charge the friggin' laptop.

Just my luck.

Called up the laptop company to purchase a new adapter BUT its still making its way to S*ingapore.

Dammit.

And the timing couldn't be WORSE!

Just when i have so many assignments coming up and due.

Plus presentations.

Grrrr.....

Anyhow i will continue with my blogging endeavours however slow i may be these days.

I must blog about my wisdom tooth. Specifically the one at the bottom right.

Because the tooth had no space, it wasn't aligned properly cos it was getting pretty crowded back there.

So tooth came out but still not fully exposed and thus a flap between the gum and tooth was there.

The gum became so tender during the 1st weekend of hari raya that i was in sooo much pain.

I couldn't sleep through the night.

Half my face was swollen.

That's when i couldn't take it anymore and decided to remove the offending tooth.

At Long Last...

Yes i have been gone a long time haven't i.

Practicum was just WAY too draining to even sit down to compose a post.

Now that i'm back in N*IE, its a little better.

So first things first, Eid Mubarak 1430h!

Even though i'm a little behind time.

Its been about 2 weeks since the 1st of Syawal.

It's been a trying time for my family this year.

One with loads of trials and tribulations.

InsyaAllah it will be resolved.

God is Great. MasyaAllah.

And since the last time i wrote, i think i pretty much established that we are finally a couple.

*happy dance*

Had a GREAT date yesterday. Despite me missing a chunk of tooth.

Now that's another story altogether.

But today what really got me excited was the fact that i RE-organised all my makeup!

All properly stashed away in proper containers and small pouches.

Yes i can be organised when i WANT to.

I actually took an inventory of all the makeup that i have.

Complete with all descriptions of most of the colours that i have.

I can't even believe i have THIS much makeup!

But i'm so proud of my organization skills! Ahakz!

So when my DK called to tell me he was taking half the day off, i said

"YES! i can go to D*aiso to buy containers and boxes to organize my makeup!"

Back! Again.

More updates since i last left this dusty blog.

I realise i have been rather neglectful.

My poor baby

Anyways, i last left off with me completely neglecting the curfew.

Ok not by choice really but by circumstance.

It was a nice Saturday afternn about 3 weeks back,

It was supposed to be a recce trip to D*esaru.

Yes we did go to D*esaru in case you haven't noticed the numerous pics i posted up on FB.

And by WE i mean us, and another 2 couples.

I'm quite sure you're all up to speed already.

So we went and had a realllllllyyyyyy lovely time there.

Took lots of photos washed in sunset pinks and blues.

It was gorgeous!

By the time all the important stuff was done, we left D*esaru at around 8pm.

Reached JB around 9.30pm close to 10pm where we headed to P*andan City so that the not-so-newly-weds could do their grocery shopping.

Anyway, by the time they completed their shopping it was 11.30pm.

And we all hadn't had dinner.

Another short drive to S*enibong, and had supper @12midnight.

Curfew is 12midnight by the way.

*kinda like U*ia*

By the time we were done with dinner, it was already 1.30am...close to 2am.

Rented car STILL had not been washed and filled with petrol yet.

When all that was done, it was already 2.30am.

And as usual, there was a jam on the C*auseway!

-All this while we were having our own M*ichael J*ackson memorial by playing M*J's greatest hits DVD on the DVD player in the car-

So I EVENTUALLY made it home at FOUR A.M!!!

Errrkkkk.

Luckily never kene nagging or scolding that was too bad by the parents.

Forgive Me.

1) For not updating since i came back frm Langkawi.

2) For leaving my blog a little dusty.

3) For being too busy with practicum.

I had a few problems with my laptop a couple of days before leaving for Langkawi.

Then i had to reboot and reinstall everything which took AGES.

Then when i really wanted to blog, something went wrong with blogspot.

Truth be told this is the first time that i've successfully managed to log into blogspot.

I have no idea what happened.

First things first!

The Langkawi/KL NIE trip!

It was awesome to the max.

It was really great to travel with these bunch of peeps even though i've only known them since January this year.

We had looonnnggg nights!

Karaoke-ing on the first night then Taboo-ing (SG version) on the subsequent nights.

I must say, L*iwen is REALLLY a super night owl who is super perky @ night!

And that's BEFORE she gets loaded up with booze.

hahahahah!

Taboo i guess was our saving grace.

It was the game and NOT the trip really that bonded us.

We even carried on Taboo-ing at Y*vette's place for an all-nighter movie and Taboo-ing session

(where i had to leave before 12midnight; i am Cinderella...seriously...but i also have ANOTHER breaking curfew story that i will tell if my fingers don't ache after this update)

The Taboo session that we had @ Y*vette's GORGEOUS home was joined by J*illian (who just came back the day before from her European jaunt) and then we also were graced by the presence of Miss K*eiko! who also recently came back from her diving trip in Thailand.

Then we had G-O-H F*adly who had just touched down in Singapore that SAME night and drove all the way frm Bukit Panjang to Kovan/Hougang to join us.

The things we do for love and dedication people!

We had lots of catching up and i was truly bummed for having to leave early.

But i heard they really had OODLES and OODLES of fun!

But i DIGRESS.

I meant to talk about Langkawi.

It was G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S!

i am stilllll in love with Langkawi.

Her beauty is breathtaking.

God is great. MasyaAllah.

I was truly awed and splendoured!

I went banana boating too!

That was a RIOT!

5 of us went on it, and halfway during the ride the guy tipped us over in the middle of the Andaman sea!

Getting flung off (with contact lenses still intact! thank God!) was fun and all but getting up was EXHAUSTING!!

Y*vette almost drowned. And all of us except for Feroz had problems getting up the damn banana boat.

When u're floating like neck deep, its harder to haul yourself out.

And its totally strenuous on your upper body.

Needless to say i was aching all over after that.

We were all panting like dogs when we got back to the beach.

D*arwina was all sea-sick after that. Hehehe.

And we all stayed in the hotel for the rest of the afternoon, and called in room service.

I had a Club sandwich. It was damn TASTY i tell u!

5 stars for Bayview Hotel in Kuah Town, Langkawi!

When we left for KL the following day and when we eventually checked into the hotel, it was already 3pm.

We also had a slight mix-up with the rooms.

Once everything was settled and we made our way to K.L.C.C to have lunch @ Chili's, we were FAMISHEDDDD.

We were kinda full by the time we finished our appetisers truth be told.

Then when we were served our main courses, we were pretty much struggling to FINISH everything.

I think most of us only managed to squeeze in half of what was served on the plate.

But everyone was enamoured with the mashed potatoes.

I still dream about it once in a while. HAAHAHA.

OK.

So that was it basically.

The trip was fab, i covered the most important events =D

Just wait for my NEXT update.

The one where i missed my curfew, by FOUR hours.

That's right people.

FOUR hours.

And i only got in at 4am.

He he.

So that's another story for another day!

i am seriously annoyed with my laptop because i had to do a partial reformatting of my hard-drive and as a result, i've lost all my documents and photos.

Watched Star Trek last night.

It was WORTH every penny.

I loved every second.

Kept me in my seat and didn't bore me to tears.

The humour was excellent too!

It was a good thing Angels & Demons was sold out for that time slot ahakz.

After which we proceeded to the F1 track to view the X-fighters exhibition tour.

Not really my thing.

The stunts got my stomach shrivelled.

Do their moms even know the kind o f danger they put themselves in!?

But we got on the Sg Flyer to watch everything from the pods.

minus the crowd and the stifling heat.

It was nice and cool and very conducive for watching flying bike stunts from a distance.

After that we proceeded to Lau Pa Sat for dinner.

My food and drink were disappointing!

Thankfully Singapore is small.

Because Sharing is Caring.

A few months ago, S*eri put up a blogpost about some teaching strategies.

And it occurred to me that i don't just have N*IE friends but also friends that are teaching but in different fields as well.

So i think its best that i use this platform for sharing.

I think my B*ENL friends that are teaching will hopefully find it useful InsyaAllah.

So in the past 4 months in N*IE what have I learnt?

I've learnt that in teaching, its not just a job.

It has to become an all consuming passion to help and educate students.

And you have to cater to ALL your students.

So i think the basic idea in teaching is, whatever new topic you teach, you need to bring in their prior knowledge.

Help them form new schema to cope with the new topic.

Better yet, make links from the previous topic to the new one.

It helps students greatly.

Another thing i find useful is contextualising whatever you're teaching.

Contextualising meaning, help students understand through examples that are localised or familiar.

And most of all, i think as teachers, we need to be performers as well.

Creative performers.

And no im not talking about being a clown.

But you need to be creative in your classes.

How you choose to present the topic to your class greatly determines how much input is going to be received by your students.

And one more thing...

PREPARE, PREPARE, PREPARE!

Lesson Planning is KEY!

But whatever you prepare does not mean it HAS to be carried out.

You must be able to adapt to certain changes that occur within class time.

Sometimes you might just lose that essence if you follow your lesson plan rigidly.

These are just my 2 cents.

Hoarsey.

Remember a while back (probably a year ago) i wrote an entry on tonsilitis?

The one where i described my voice akin to "hot potato voice"?

Well its BACK!.

In fact, it has made its appearance yet I couldnt feel anything.

Apparently, according to the Doc, my body has grown accustomed to it and will manifest itself without the normal symptoms.

So missing were the fever and the maddening pain at the back of my throat.

Doc said that it has come to the point that white spots had already appeared on my tonsils (i.e. pus!)

I really thought i just had a bad cough that was going on for way too long.

Had i known, i would have not gone to school this mrng and taken a full day's worth of MC.

Lucky im a civil servant.

Heh.

That's probably the only silver lining lah.

Neway...

Last night my dad launched an enquiry about my D*arkKnight (DK).

The moment i stepped into the car, he said i smelled of motor oil.

Heh.

I guess he must have seen DK the night he sent me home after our date =D

Normal questions were asked like:

What's his name?

What's his dad's name?

where does he live? how many siblings does he have? is he the eldest? javanese/boyanese? where is he working? how long has he worked?

Holiday.

Planning a holiday is fun.

But it is never easy.

We have to consider people's tastes and preferences and we have to come to a compromise somewhere.

But above all...

I REALLY wanna travel with all of you!

*especially before we embark on the treacherous p*racticum that looms before us*

back on track:

our plans were initially to go to KL.

then it suddenly changed course to Bali.

then somehow, because of some availability of flights issue, it got changed to Redang instead.

After enquiring about Redang, we thought it was a LITTLE too pricey for a short getaway.

So somehow or rather....

it got changed BACK to the original plan of KL/Genting.

Haha.

And i have somehow become the unofficial planner for this trip of ours.

I pray that we cm to some kind of resolution soon.

Drama 101

A lot of mayhem went on this mrng for the teaching of drama class.

One that made us all sweaty and high from laughter.

We had animals, characters from books and comics, n.s. "men", dysfunctional families and one very good pole dancer!

It has been a VERY packed week despite the short week that we were bestowed with last week.

I celebrated my 25th birthday last week!

Had to prepare for assignments, left, right and centre.

I now know why S*hereen was so busy when she was in N*IE.

There was a poetry package to design (some tweaks made after the consultation with the tutor)

Preparing for tutorials.

The ed. psych assignment due today *which took me AGES to complete*

And preparing for my comm. skills oral presentation today

Not only that, F*iction55 also had to be completed.

*phew*

That was a pretty long list.

A lot of my classmates were absent today and even the tutor in one of the classes let us off early because we all looked so dead tired.

Hahaahaa, we probably looked like dead chickens.

But of course the highlight of last weekend (besides completing my 2500 word essay in record time) was my date!

Yes i had a D.A.T.E!

I had a date with mr. a*yie =)

so lomantic hahaha.

i had oodles of fun.

well lets just say he's special to me.

*smiles*

I spent a total of 12.5 hours with him yesterday.

Imagine that.

We went on the luge twice!

*glad to report that i did not have to embarass myself by wearing the helmet the other way around hehe *

We went to the 4D theatre.

We tried to catch the sunset over at the s*outhern most tip of the asian continent
(sadly the clouds covered up the glowing fiery ball dipping into the ocean)

and finally we caught the cable car back to the mainland

*i am seriously gg to fall in love if he keeps this up*

*sigh*

as of now, i am totally, completely, overwhelmingly...

Yes.

I am now officially a quarter of a century old.

I enjoyed some pre-birthday celebrations yesterday.

And a little bit of drama on the side, as well as a reallly nice birthday wish at the stroke of midnight *smiles*

My N*IE classmates went the extra mile to go get me a birthday cake and pressies!

All presented to me in Literature class.

My favourite class =)

Perfect.

*although it was kind of a non-surprise* - thats another story for another day hehee.

I got a D*orothy P*erkins wide, double buckled belt AND a F21 voucher! =)

You guys are really the BEST!

I can't believe some of you actually remembered that i've been searching for that for a while!

So yday some drama unfolded as well.

I got a lift from C*ecilia my classmate to Toa Payoh and took the train back home from there.

When i arrived at Y*ishun i realised my wristlet that contained my e.z. link, matriculation card, AND i/C were all MISSINGGGG.

Quickly made a report at the service counter *thankfully a*zura was there, THANK YOU BABE!*

And by the time i reached my front door, the service staff called me and told me that my wristlet had been returned! *thank God!*

This is the 2nd scare i've had with that wristlet.

So i came home, put down my stuff and left for t*oa p*ayoh.

Thanks to my aunt, i managed to get a lift all the way there and all the way back.

By the time i arrived home, it was 10pm.

An awfully LOOOONNNNNNGGGGGG day for me.

And then tried to switch on my laptop to T*witter when i realised that something had gone wrong with my laptop.

Aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!

So i ended up not doing any schoolwork.

I just proceeded to pick up a book to do some light reading.

I had fallen asleep at ard 11.30pm and got a really nice phone call

*from a very nice guy =)*

who even sang me a birthday song.

The Day I WE Got Pranked

Dear all,

Received some news late yesterday. One of my colleagues has fallen sick and has been hospitalised so they are pulling me out of Q*CR520 [your Lit course, in case you didn’t know] and redeploying me to do his course effective next week. It appears that I am the only one they can find with the school experience needed to do the course. Mr T*ang (who is doing the other QCR520 class) or Mr A*ngus W*hitehead (who also has experience doing Q*CR520) will probably take your class. I find this ironic since we were just talking about Mr A*lex at lunch yesterday. Anyway, it comes at a good juncture as we close the Poetry section [I will still assess this component] and the Prose section begins next week. I am sure I will be able to find excuses to come into your class or meet up with you guys for lunch or bubble tea (if I get invited). The decision is pending depending on the diagnosis of my colleague’s condition and should be confirmed by this Friday. I will be meeting my Department Head later this afternoon after my presentation and will update you at tomorrow’s lesson.

I had classmates who were so upset and those that even replied "its okay... your colleague will get well soon, we'll see you around sometime"

Another one was soooo mad and riled up that she replied in the email:

ok wait wait WAIT! this had better be an APRIL FOOL'S JOKE because i'm THIS CLOSE to banging down the department head's door and yell at his face. SERIOUSLY. i will petition, picket, WHATEVER it takes if they really really remove you from this course!!!

And when he made an appearance at the canteen today, my classmate went up to him and said, "You evil maaan!"

It was hilarious! He is soooo going to get an earful when we come to class tomorrow.

See how much we L.O.V.E our tutor? Its amazing the amount of L.O.V.E that we all have for one another hehehe.

Kickboxing!

In my efforts to become fitter this year (and hopefully more toned)

I have embarked on some fitness classes.

And as you can see from the title, i have begun kickboxing classes!

Very cheap and well worth your money i tell you.

Just go to your nearest CC.

Even someone who used to go to A*more was saying that the class was comparable to the ones that she used to do.

The woman who conducted the class was so uber fit lah!

She's so friggin' toned.

And i almost gave up halfway thru the class.

I was dying of exhaustion and literally sweating buckets lah.

But it was really good.

Especially when you're doing ur punching movements.

I felt like a real fighter....NOT!

The most i could do was to pretend that i was punching some filthy conniving ex-boyfriend of mine.

And hey, it worked!

Hahahaha.

That was only the first class.

And thank you D*arwina for suggesting this brilliant idea and im so thankful i have an exercise buddy like u.

C u in class tomorrow lah.

Lit. Classes

I think all of you know tht i love Lit like nobody's business.

I think its a handy skill to have.

And now that im in training to TEACH lit, its a totally different ball game now.

But the BEST thing that's happened since a long time is D*ennis Y*eo my Lit. shifu in N*IE now.

He's this awesome, off-the-beaten-track, i don't care if you say the wrong things, kinda teacher.

It is TOTALLY awesome and inspiring to be in his classes.

*can i just say i really dun wanna leave?*

And he's one of the best teacher's i've had in my less than 3 mth stint in N*IE.

We've been doing poetry the past few lessons and i have to make this clear, i don't really have an affinity for poetry.

I am a prose type of gal.

But he has structured his lessons in such a way that i am starting to love poetry.

How the **** is this possible!?

Has he gotten something embedded in my brain while i wasn't looking?

Nevertheless, hes like the awesomest teachers around.

He's got us writing poetry and reading poetry and i like the fact that he didn't do dry 17th century poetry right off the bat with us.

He started us off easy and is doing great stuff!

For the next lesson, he's got us looking for a pop (or any other genre) song that has the potential to be a poem, i.e. that has some form of structure and uses some literary device.

So now i am scrolling through my spartan collection of songs for use in his class on THURSDAY.

Cmon, arh, what kind of teacher gets you so excited to do his work at least a FULL day ahead of class?
