Its been a long week...

Okay, so i didn't really get off to a good start this week. But i guess all's well now.

The love and me have come to compromise. Yes, the honeymoon is over and I'm going to have to work at it.

Compromise, that's what's gonna move us along.

So besides the relationship issues, there's been 2 assignments that were due this week. One on monday (the one which i TOTALLY forgot about the whole time i was in singapore) and then i rushed to complete it during the one hour break. I was hacking away at my laptop in the HS cafe.

Me and my complete selenger-ness

The second one, was the book review, the one that i was procrastinating on. I am terrible sometimes. But so far alhamdullillah, its been pretty manageable.

I already had a major presentation today. I thought me and Alia were going to nail it but unfortunately it blew up in our faces.

I guess that's what you get when you get a little over-confident.

Just a little okay.

I even sneaked a peek at Zak's lesson plan, but i guess i needed a little more help in that department.

So what happened during the presentation? She b.l.e.w us off. Okay maybe blew off was not the correct word to use but im still upset. She kept harping at it over and over again. I mean, cmon gimme a break, the first group didn't even H.A.V.E a lesson plan to begin with.

Needless to say i was kinda depressed after the lesson. And let me tell you, it does not help a single bit when you are PMS-ing.

So, i have 2 more assignments to hand in, in 2 weeks time. InsyaAllah it will be fine.

I have to mention that i got an interesting assignment by Prof. Quayum. He let us hand in 5 poems or a short story! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Of course im handing in a short story.

I S.U.C.K at poetry. If you could see the things i write. It makes no sense at all. So much for being the next John Donne. But if there were ever poetry that i could understand, it would be the metaphysical poetry. Excellent stuff.

So now there is the challenge of looking for a theme, the narrative, the characters that i plan to have in my short story. I hope all goes well. Pray for me.

Maryam the aspiring writer.

Sounds good.

This weekend i'll be spending some time with my maternal grandparents at N. Sembilan. It will be a wonderful change. Thank God.

I need some peace. No handphone ringing. Somewhere where no one can contact me (although i will still be talking to the parental units and the bf on the fixed line of course!)

So it'll be just me and the grandparents. And my lovely little Ika and Comel. I miss my two little "adopted" cousins!

This time im armed with a proper digicam so i'll snap away.

My favourite rule to break...

Rule number one: Never Procrastinate.

And often times its the first rule that i throw out the window.

Here i am, chained at my desk in my room, supposedly writing out a book review that's due for tomorrow, and i just lost it.

My second paragraph is crap, and i can't sit still.

I am going to throw myself out the window one of these days.

The love is mad at me for something that i really don't think i have anything to apologise for.

So why the hell do i feel so guilty?

The backstreet boys are crooning in my ear, and i watched like a whole 7 episodes of desperate housewives (season 2) on dvd. Thanks to Firah.

But somehow i feel crummy.

Did i tell you i went to the doctor's office over the weekend? I have a sore throat and a chesty cough. It sucks so bad to be under the weather.

And i feel like im coming down with a fever. My body feels a little warmer than usual. Even after my shower i had a couple of hours ago.

Aaaarrrggghhhhh....concentrate!

Oh, and to the jerk that made my weekend miserable, go to hell and rot there!

Why is it that he's out of life but still manages to make me miserable.

I wish i had gotten the chance to clobber his head.

Oh well.

Good times never last forever do they?

P/s: Happy Belated Birthday to Shahidah! The one who brought me and the love together. I wish you the best 22nd bday and i hope that whatever u wish for will come true! InsyaAllah!

Back where im supposed to be.

Its still a busy, busy week. What the hell was i thinking when i added all those courses!

I have to finish reading a novel by this week and write a book review this weekend for Malaysian & Singapore Literature. My first written assignment of the semester.

I have yet to check out the URL on the e-portfolio for the error & contrastive class and there's so much readings to be done!

Have mercy on me please.

I reached my hostel at 5am and had a class to attend at 9am. I'm surprised i was able to wake up that early.

Oh God i have an American Lit. class tomorrow. Readings, readings.

I am coming home this weekend. Yay!

I still can't believe im in this mess this semester.

Slowly but surely i guess.

What The Hell...

I just watched Christina Aguilera perform her latest single "Ain't No Other Man But You".

I am blown away by just how powerful her voice is!

And she's so TINY! And i mean TINY! She's like an American size 2!

I wonder where she gets all that power to belt out a song like that!

She has just proven to me all over again how much i prefer her over Britney.

Britney can't sing for NUTS.

What she does best is...getting pregnant! Harhar.

I'll be going back tonight. Boo-hoo. I can't bear leaving the love now.

Now im having separation anxiety!

Can i come back next week??? Pls?

Well Worth The Wait!

the Jules Rimet cup seen with Buffon and Cannavaro

Its been an exhilarating week so far. With classes in full swing. You won't believe the kind of packed schedule i'll be facing this semester. I'm almost sorry for having my bf to put up with me.

Pls excuse me for the lack of updates. I've been really bz with class and I am currently internet-less these days. Although that may all change by next week when i sign up for the wireless service in my hostel.

I am EXCITED to announce (albeit a bit late) that ITALY have snatched the world cup from right underneath the Frenchmen's noses. I'm not sorry for Zidane at all. He deserved it. If he really were a world class player, then he would have just let the comments slide. He could have just shoved Materazzi back. Even i would approve. But that head butt? What were you thinking? Honestly, i think he caused the French to be lacklustre right after his dismissal. Too bad really.

Who cares when ITALY have won!

Totti hamming it up with the Cup

I also lost my voice for screaming at the top of my lungs during that high intensity game. I still sound hoarse.

I have also fallen in love with my department all over again. I knew I've always wanted to do english lang. and lit. As you go up the ladder in due course, you get all the wise lecturers. The ones that are so passionate about what they are lecturing about. That even when you're bored, you end up sitting up straight in class and you're all ears.

I'm sad that im going to be graduating soon.

No more late night soccer with the girls. No more renting the car to learn how to drive in the empty parking lot. No more late nights studying hard with the roomies. No more maggi noodles (thank God!) and no more listening to great lecturers.

Well there is something to be happy about.

The incompetent administration!

Good riddance!

A Fruitful Day

I spent most of the day at Swissotel @ Raffles today attending my very first charity event hosted by PPIS.

Kudos to the organizing committee for making it a very memorable experience for me. The food was great, the entertainment even more so!

Did i mention there was Taufik Batisah? I noe that he is so passe these days but i still need my local dose of "taufik-ism".

Rahimah Rahim (senior) was there performing as well and R. Ismail too (although many didn't bat an eyelid while he performed). The kids performances were ADORABLE. Kids, anyhow they perform also they will still look adorable. Bah!

I even got to revisit old memories back at the old PPIS Playfair centre

-waaaayyyyy back then-

when mdm nadhirah koyakutty was my nursery teacher. she has fond memories of my class cos it was the 1st batch of students that she ever taught there. not to mention that she kept in contact with my mom. so she remembers me! i cant believe that my nursery teacher remembers me. must be eons and yonks ago!

I managed to get pics of her and my sis' kindergarten teachers. haiz. wat fond memories.

Pics will have to wait. My USB cable is has suddenly gone MIA.

But let me assure u, there were plenty.

And did i mention that i got to shake hands with the president's wife and talk to mdm halimah yaakob? Ahakz, the political activist in me has suddenly stirred.

Dr. Maliki Osman was also there, and even obliged with a song which he sang together with his wife. So sporting!

Right now i better catch some sleep if im to watch the match between germany and portugal.

Oh can i just mention that i am soooooo happy that italy have reached the finals!? Forza Azzurri!

Ciao.

Less than 2 days

The countdown has inevitably begun again.

Do i really have to go back to school!?

I was having such a blast these past 3 weeks.

Gonna miss the family. My bed. The pc. The TELEVISION!

I never get enough of the tv.

Somehow, im kinda excited about writing assignments and holing myself in the library again.

I must be MAD!

Can't Wait for the Finals in Berlin! Gonna watch it with all the girls and have a PARTY!

Need I Say More?

I missed most of last night's match (unfortunately). The alarm i set went off but i slept through it.

I was awakened by the screams of GOAAAALLLL by my brother and father. Not to mention the other screams that followed by the tenants from the opposite block.

I woke up and screamed: Oh Shit!

Quickly went downstairs and i got to watch that fabulous goal by Del Piero. Top corner shot. Lehmann didn't have a chance!

Cannavaro did a wonderful job of intercepting that pass allowing Pirlo to follow up with a pass to Gilardino. His smart little tap to Del Piero gave Italy a convincing win against the German Giants.

All i can say is:

Can't wait for the Azzurri's to play in Berlin!

As it stands...

After a dismal and disappointing performance at the last game with Australia, Italy have come back to show that they still have grit and are able to play the game without any dirty tricks.

Today's match just goes to show how fierce they want to win this year. I think so many pple have underestimated them that they have flown under the radar to reach the semi-finals.

My dark (italian) horses.

The match agst Ukraine, which is still underway as we speak, has shown that Italy are not JUST a highly defensive machine but are able to attack with panache.

Zambrotta came out of nowhere to put Italy on the scoreboard in the first half and worked hard to defend and extend their lead as well. This right-back came thundering all the way to the front and just struck gold. Amazing! Everyone didn't expect it really. His first World Cup goal which i bet he'll cherish forever.

Back in the second half, Italy had been looking to extend their lead and it couldnt have been more timely when they were awarded with a free kick taken by Totti and headed into the net by Luca Toni. Excellent stuff.I've been dying to see Toni score. He's just excellent in the previous matches, only to be luckless all those other times.

Later on in the second half, Toni scored again with a chance created by Zambrotta. These men are on fire tonight!

Worthy mentions go out to Pirlo, Cannavaro, Gattuso & Camoranesi ( the man with the most gorgeous hair in the World Cup to date!) and all the excellent saves made by Buffon. I don't think this would have been possible at all without his goalkeeping skills. He just proves to all the critics why he's the most expensive goalkeeper time and again.

So, all i have to say is:

Yeay, yeay...Italy menang! 3-0!

Fin.

Nice or Not?

Love this collage.
I will post up the pics onto my fotopages.
Soon.
Hopefully by tonight.

Photos are here

I will have a late night tonight.

Italy vs Ukraine later at 3am.
What a bugger.
So late.
Well...anything for my Azzurri.

Onward!

There is ample reason to celebrate! The Italians have made it to the final eight.

A late goal thru a penalty converted by Francesco Totti *my darling*

Talk about arriving fashionably late!

Stunning kick.

Leaving me totally breathless and just exhilarated that they've made it!

Forza Azzurri!!!

Zoo-athon

Okay, so it isn't a zoo-athon but considering i went about like once every year since 2004, i think it warrants as something.

I was there only about a couple of months back and yesterday when i was there, a lot had changed. There were spanking brand new exhibits!

I had been dying to see the new giraffes on display. I remember seeing them last, many, many yonks ago. So i was pretty happy that i was there to see them again. They're now housed in the 'wild africa' section of the zoo next to the ibexes.

There were new enclosures for the sea otter and binturong. *the sea otters actually posed for photographs. They were extremely obliging!*

Tapirs and babirusa were also on display in their own spot. The jaguars were happily frolicking in the water and Inuka the polar bear was doing her morning laps in the big, cold bath tub of hers.

I finally got to see an elephant show, with big matron Kumali, the matriarch of the elephant family at the mandai zoo, as star of the show. Her pink pigmentation makes her look all the more adorable.

Many of the big cats were all in lazy mode, except for the jaguars. The rest were having a mid-morning siesta aka NAP! Lazy bums. I guess they've been working way too hard at the Night Safari.

Omar the White Tiger was not looking very happy as he paced back and forth over his 2 other sleeping female companions in the late afternoon.

While the animals lunched, we had OURs at KFC in KidsWorld. My brother had his fill and quickly bounced out of sight as he delightfully climbed, slid and jumped all over the playground, leaving me and the love scarfing down the crispy chicken. Walking around the zoo is really tiring you know?

We bounced back with renewed energy (except the fact that the boyfriend was feeling under the weather and was sneezing away) and headed over to Animal World. We touched some Asses and i mean donkeys here. I think they have a new addition to the ass family meaning that the asses are widening! Ho ho ho

And the love makes very good imitations of a horse neighing. My brother tried copying it and it sounded more like 'kuda semput'.

We saw some black n white spotted cows (not like the ones me n my family are used to seeing back at the kampung, all brown and skinny) which were HUGE. I think they look like huge refrigerators.

I forgot to mention that there's also a new orchid garden with so many pretty, big, blooming, purple and pink orchids! I couldnt resist and stopped to take a photograph. The photographing sessions somewhat released the little photographer in my youngest brother and he took many beautiful shots of me n the love.

He continued snapping away till we got to the hamadyras babboons. My all time favourite animal enclosure. I think we sat there for a good 20 mins. I felt like i was watching a soap opera with many different stories on show.

We walked back all the way to the entrance and took a tram ride and the little one had his eyes all droopy. Lets just say he had a lot of fun and was wiped out.

Me, i was drained! But i came home, freshened up and left home again, this time to sentosa. Just to take a drive around the island (and accompany the bf for an interview at the transportation office)

No pics though. Nothing much to see since many places had barriers erected. So we went for dinner at Adam Rd. Yummy nasi lemak and ice kachang graced our hungry tummies.

Sunday well spent i say. Wish i could have gone with my family. I haven't exactly been spending time with the family since dad's working on shift and doesn't coincide with my mom's 5-day work week. So yeah, bummer. And right now, since school's started, i'm all alone at home now. Double bummer.

Pics soon to be posted up once i've transferred them.

Gimme, gimme...

Its almost a week since i've gotten home. Almost is the key word.

I'm enjoying the holidays. Lots of time spent with the love so far. Still can't meet up with the girls cos 2 of them are busily prepping for sch which is due to re-open next week.

I've been accompanying him on his lunch breaks and we meet again for dinner. Since tuesday.

Sometimes its a bit stifling. But i guess different pple have different ways to show how much they care for you.

Now that im back home, i can actually watch ALL the matches of the world cup but alas, it is SOOOOOO BOOOOORRRRIIINNNNGGGG without the girls. No more taking down the names of all the cute players and having late night munchies with 15mins during half-time to revise for Finals.

I miss you girls lah! It will be one of those moments that i will cherish forever! But at least i'll know that i still have a year to make more memories! InsyaAllah. We should all get together to watch one of the matches together. Time permitting of course.

Hope to see you girls again soon!!!! Miss ya!

By the way, the Azzurri won 2-0 against the Czech Rep. which means that they'll be going on to the second round! Hurrah!

Football Frenzy

After the england match the other night, i stayed on to watch the following 2 matches. I even tried posting an entry that night, but the pc was feeling a tad grumpy, so my entry never got published.

Anyway it was nice to see the s'porean referee take the field. Something to calm my nerves before coming back to singapore.

I so totally loved watching the italian match!

totti my italian hunny was there! he still looks so absolutely GORGEOUS!

i could say the same for cannavaro. glad to see that he's holding the captaincy now that maldini is gone.

did u see their goals!!!!????

so far, italy has had the most convincing win. *im so happy!!!*

and i dun understand why anyone would wanna support england. wat a waste of airtime watching them play. so much theatrics. i kinda got bored by the end of the first half!

im glad brazil only won by a pathetic one goal -smirks-

lets pray we see a different team carrying the wc trophy aye?

*and pls let it not be s.korea* - im still holding that grudge from the last wc-

btw, i need to study for my paper tomorrow!!!!

ciao.

FootballFever...

Expect eyebags of a different kind. Not the kind that stays up to study (especially with exams next wed & thurs respectively) but the eyebags that spell football fever.

I have shacked up with the peeps from the neighbouring hostel (aka Asma' & Gang or otherwise known as the TF Clan) to watch soccer. As of yesterday i have become the absolute football fanatic...cheering on teams where i barely knew the players. Kinda like an entree to the Italy matches.

Yesterday's match was great...but not as great as the match that just concluded (Sweden vs Trinidad & Tobago). That match was a heartstopper! It was worth all the sleeping time that i've sacrificed. T&T put up the most amazing display of skill that really won my attention. Not to mention you had a really great goalkeeper. That Hislop was just amazing. He seemed really calm under all that pressure that came from an attacking Swedish team that was hungry for goals the minute the whistle blew.

Another reason to watch the match was that we (Singaporean) got to watch our very own Shamsul Maidin as refree for the match! I couldn't have been any prouder. :D

Tomorrow i have to go back to my room, do some actual and serious studying. No more playing!

And to my dear Suhaili Bte Saad, thank you for letting me sleep in your bed this past 2 days! I have enjoyed your company tremendously! Love you so much! *Nanti balik bilik aku buatkan maggi tomyam PAMA eh?*

To the love, I don't know whether you will read this or not but I LOVE YOU & I MISS YOU SO MUCH!

I am now in the CyberCafe waiting for the next match to begin at 3am (Argentina vs Cote d' Ivoire) Its very tiring you know to wait and watch for the next match. And im hungry. I didnt exactly eat a proper dinner. Canteen closed early thanks to the early fans of Akademi Fantasia wanting to eat dinner while watching that variety show. Now the stomach is grumbling. Errgghhh!

Nora, you must be enjoying yourself at your workplace sambil tgk bola kan? Miss you so much lah. Biler nak datang singapore niiiii!!!!!!

To all my other soccer kaki's: Qhuzaimah, Aisyah Spec, Seri, Qadar, Ilham, Shasha....thanks for making me feel at home yeah! Love you guys!

I'm out.

Night Class

Okay, i confess. I am so bored in class right now that i am FORCED to blog.

Okay. Lame excuse i know. But i really can't help it. I'm done with all my presentations and tests and all that stuff.

Right now im in my E. Lit 3 class listening to another person drone on and on about colonialism and post-colonialism.

Haiz...i so miss HOME right now. I would give my right arm to just have a night out at Syed Restaurant right in front of my block to enjoy the tasty prata and the teh tarik. Not to mention the great ambiance and great service. Yes. I am a "kedai kopi" type of girl. My M'sian room mates can't fathom how i enjoy hanging out at Haji Tapah (mamak stall)

I need so much to be home. I can't believe that i've actually been here for about 3 weeks! In the short sem! I'm amazed myself!

Finals are next week!!!

I can't believe that finals here again.

And i haven't started revising.

And i still have the heart to go and watch soccer this weekend...and why shouldnt i? It only comes once every 4 years! World Cup baby!

Forza Italia!

I unfortunately didn't get to watch the extra scenes after the credits rolled after X-Men III...this means i'll have to catch it again...at the MOVIES!

The grandparents are back from their turkish holiday. I am awaiting my turkish delight...i hope there are some other goodies as well *crosses fingers*

I am hungry right now.

Even after that yummy plate of kuay teow pattaya. Sooooooo seeedddaaaapppp!

And i am hungry for something...and i don't know what it is...burger maybe?

Its this damn boring class that's making me hungry...

Ciao for now.

Virginal Experience...

My dears, do not think prurient thoughts. Its just reflective of my first-ever visit to Berjaya Times Square (after studying in KL for 3 yrs). And i thought Mid-Valley Megamall was huge! Gosh...there were endless floors of shopping. But unfortunately they didnt really do it for me. There wasn't much variety and come to think of it, me and the love only hit like 7 floors.

Yes, the love was here in KL over the weekend to see how i was doing. Rather, i felt that he needed to just see me in the flesh. The past two weeks were kinda rough on the both of us, seeing that it was our first 2 weeks apart.

Another 2 weeks and he'll be here again to get me and then we'll be back in good 'ol Singapore for a 3 week break. Bless him.

So what did i do over the weekend? Besides NOT touching my books, i headed to the cinemas twice over the weekend to watch Tipah Tertipu (Saturday) and X-Men III (Sunday; courtesy of the Love's sis).

I think it was a good break for me in particular, after having to deal with the incompetent staff of the Finance Department here on campus. Can you imagine having to go to that office for five days in a row just to get my account balance, and till today they havent got it done yet. Aaaaarrrrggggggghhhhh!

And i get the brunt of having to deal with my mom! Eeeeerrrrrggghhhhh. Its enough to make me blast the office. Just now as it is, i was already raising my voice at the -incompetent- lady, who, mind you had no sense of urgency watsoever. I left by kicking the door.I love getting attention dontcha know? aaaaaaaaarrrrggggghhhhh!

Besides the stupid pple i've had to deal with, mid terms weren't exactly great. Lecturers are a killer this sem. Both me and Kho are in a rut. We'll just have to buck up for the finals then.

One more presentation and then we'll all be set for finals.

Two papers. 3 weeks of bliss back home.

The Definitive Guide to “The Da Vinci Code” – the movie

I know there are some of you out there that haven’t been able to catch the movie yet.

I suggest to those that haven’t read the book to go and watch the movie before you actually read the book.

Why you may ask?

Well its ‘cos the book version and the movie version often don’t run along the same lines.

Okay, the movie did maintain the plot at the beginning but eventually towards the end, I was swamped with a resounding “HUH? Where in the world did that come from?”
For those that have read the book and watched the movie, you’ll get what I mean.

I can’t really blame Ron Howard.

Dan Brown played the greater part in producing the screenplay for the movie. So please don’t go and get all huffy with Mr. Ron Howard. He’s a fabulous director. And I think he did a fabulous job.

Okay, as a literature student who often has to rely on movies to support our understanding of the novel, the movie often turns out to be a disappointment. You will have to eventually turn back to the book. Cos the movie turns out to be (sometimes) a great wash out.

This movie is great for history buffs. Especially religious history buffs. I’ve been fascinated with this genre since the first time I ever caught Charlton Heston in “Ben-Hur”. I have no idea how many times I’ve watched “Ben-Hur” already.

Point being, history buffs, go catch it.

Okay, back to my take on the movie version of “The Da Vinci Code”.

The movie helped to give me a greater understanding to the parts of the book that I couldn’t understand. Like how Bezu Fache was involved in the whole scheme of things. Well then again some people might like to disagree with me. But then again, how you interpret the movie is entirely up to the individual, yes?

But I digress.

Movies are a great way to help you give visual aid to certain parts of the book that you weren’t able to imagine in your mind. Like the part where Robert Langdon and Sophie Neveu got off the plane in the hangar at London.

But most importantly, what the movie failed to capture was the intensity of the lead character Robert Langdon. I don’t think Tom Hanks fulfilled the role. Somehow there was something big that was lacking in his performance as Professor Robert Langdon.

Audrey Tautou gave a passable performance. Nothing to WOW about.

To me, the characters that gave passion in their roles was the guy who played Silas (can’t remember his name now) and of course Ian McKellen as Sir Leigh Teabing. He really acts like the crazed Grail enthusiast he’s supposed to be.

And is it me or is the guy that acts as Silas, (who was naked at one point in the movie) is always naked in the movie that he acts in? I don’t mean Firewall where he acted alongside Harrison Ford but the other movie where he starred in together with Heath Ledger. What’s it called? A Knight’s Tale, yes that’s the one!

If you would kindly remember, he played Geoffrey Chaucer in that movie and was first introduced to us as the guy who was butt naked walking the middle of the dirt road. He was extremely hilarious in that movie and in this movie, my God! Excellent delivery of Silas! I couldn’t have been more revolted when he fastened the cilice on his thigh and whipped himself. I couldn’t imagine a better actor to fill his shoes.

So don’t watch movies just based on the plot itself. Characters are also part of the movie so enjoy their performance. Because movies are just an extension of acting on stage.

I remember many months ago when I first caught the trailer to the movie, I couldn’t conceal my disappointment when Tom Hanks was cast to be the lead role. But I cast away all the doubts before watching the movie and still I wasn’t moved by his delivery. It was lukewarm. Truly. I wanted to be moved like the time I watched “Braveheart”. Tom Hanks should just stick to his romantic comedy genre.

Overall, I guess the movie deserves just a 3 out of 5 rating.

When will the next “Braveheart-like” movie come out I wonder?

So very the "malas" with a capital 'M'

Now that im 7 posts away till 300, i seriously have no idea wat to write about.

But then again, if i follow my "stream of conciousness" i believe i will churn out a whole lotta junk.

Okay first up is my lack of a life here on campus. God. Its kinda slow. Even with the tests and the mid-terms. And presentations. Aqidah presentation all done with. I'm only left with the Finals...YEAH!

Now there's the interview on post-colonialism literature that i have to do with a lecturer of our choice and then do a presentation. and i still have to meet the group mates. Might i add i really detest grp-work but then again, i can't run away from it can i?

There's a quiz on E. Lit 3 next thursday...and i still havent read "Waiting For Godot". Wat am i talking about, i havent even completed "A Passage To India", crap.

The love is coming to KL again next week! Separation anxiety has rubbed off me and passed on to him. I am extremely calm for some reason. Somehow, it worries me but only slightly. InsyaAllah.

Oh god, my toes are freezing. Its only the feet. My toes are numb!

Anyways, pple, i love you!

I just hope pple still come in here to read. Even when this super malas gerl cant lift her ass to the computer terminals.

8 more posts till the big 300!!!

Its been ages since i've been online. The crappy multimedia lab isnt really cooperative the past few weeks. But now since im back in the comforts of my own home, i am going to blog like nobody's business.

Sorry for the delays and stuff. Its just that my schedule is a bit whacked so im kinda lazy to leave the room waaaaayyy too early before class gets on. Islamic Aqidah on tuesdays and thursdays start at 2pm and end at 5pm and then there's E. Lit 3 with kak Mei (who seriously gives killer questions for mid-terms yesterday) on mondays wednesdays and thursdays at 5pm till 7pm.

So you see, its really hard for me to drag myself up to even get awake in the morning. So its really hard to see me online these next few weeks, unless of course its the weekend.

The Aqidah quiz went well. Alhamdullillah. I scored a 7 out of 10. Gosh. Considering i barely studied, and i did the quiz in like less than 15mins and spent 20 mins the following lesson gritting my teeth when she said that she would be handing out the test sheets back.

Phew. So that is over and done with.

Now i have to worry about another quiz and midterm next week PLUS presentation. InsyaAllah, everything will be fine.

Another thing that happened earlier this week (Wed. to be exact) was the AGM for ASSIIUM. And yes! I am no longer in the following exco. Sheesh...i didnt know it took sooooo much hard work. Right now i have the peeps frm the current exco on my desktop. You guys have truly made it an experience worth remembering. Thank you so much!

thanks a bunch guys!

Anyways, last week was bliss! I spent 3 days with the love at KL. We went everywhere. We hit Petaling Street thrice and Chow Kit twice and i still havent made my officiation to Berjaya Times Square yet! Next time okay?

We got ourselves many new things. He was the ultimate shopper i tell you. He bought like 2 pairs of jeans, 2 watches, 2 shirts that i picked out for him (okay mush fest i know!) Nak lawan towkay like that.

I got a Coach purse and sling bag (very the Kakak-kakak you know) hehehe and a pair of jeans which i love love love! I love the wash of the denim. Its so chic! Not to mention a knock-off of a GUESS watch closely resembling my sister's original one. But wat the heck, i got it for RM25! Thanks to the Love for his excellent bargaining skills! <3>

And before i forget, i just wanna wish all the newly elected members of the 06/07 EXCO a hearty congratulations and don't let us down!

Ouh...i'll be catching The DaVinci Code later today with Mr. M after our customary Friday dinners together. Cant Wait!

Happy One Month to Us.

Happy anniversary to Shasha and Darwis my favourite couple of all time! You guys show me that its all still possible and worthwhile. Even though i might not say it out loud hehehhe...

And there are just 8 more posts till i hit 300!!!

I sure didn't think i could keep on writing this long! To those that just started blogging, keep at it! Its all worthwhile!

P/s: Congrats to Zak on becoming a brand new aunt to Euan Harith! (gorgeous name by the way) Cant wait to meet the cutie! Send my love to your sis!

Bliss??

The weekend was great. I spent time with the luv on saturday. Spent an outrageous number of hours on the phone with the babe Huda and one more marathon session on the phone with Taufiq. Both my peeps are going thru tough times. I pray that they will see through it with flying colours, InsyaAllah.

Me, im okay. Just feel like i havent come back down to reality yet. It seems so fast! I cant believe i am where i am right now sometimes. I guess my prayers have been answered and i have God to thank for that. All the times i had to go through just banging my head on the wall. I guess God does listen when we really listen to ourselves first.

I was presented with a hp (from the Nokia Amore collection) last 2 weeks before i left for KL and then on friday i was surprised with a bunny plush toy.

You should have seen the look on his face when i said i didnt like bunnies. (The live ones of course, cos they smell like pee all the time)

Ahakz...but i do love the plush toy! Thanks so much luv!

Will paatiently wait till u arrive on friday mrng k?

Meanwhile, i hv to start cracking and get the books open to study for 2 tests next week!!!!

But till then...shopping on friday & saturday with you-know-who!!!

Congrats to Shereen on finishing her course in NUS! See you when you get back from Bangkok!

Progress Packaged

Hehehe...yes...money spent...a lot of money spent. There is still the shopping at petaling street the following week wif...yes,"the boyfriend".

It still weirds me out to say the word "boyfriend".

Okay yeah...anyway this cmg week i will have to go back and do my oh-so-democratic-duty to vote. *if not my head will land on a platter*

Why did Dr. Tony Tan have to resign so soon! I'm suddenly so NOT gung-ho to vote liao...

Yes im back in KL again. Very tired. Not enough sleep and the seat was pretty uncomfortable.

I've got to prep for a presentation this 23rd May. So tomorrow will see me going to the library at 10am. Thank God its only for an hour.

Strangely enough i kinda miss Him.

Emotional attachment is starting to kick in.

I hope i don't go into mush overload.

Yesterday saw US both flushed with embarassment as everyone seemed intent on looking at both of us and making cooing noises and making fun of Me in particular. Don't worry guys, you will get to meet the other half soon.

I just wanna say a quick thanks to shahidah (Aiss) for making it possible for the both of us to be together. If not for you, we wouldnt be together now.

I was actually apprehensive of telling my parents that i was seeing someone seriously at this point of time. Cos ive always known the stance they've had wif me and having boyfriends.

So yeah. i felt sixteen all over again when i had to broach the topic with my dad.

At least they're both okay with it and they're supportive(?) i guess.

Im praying that this one will work out.

Loong week(end)...

Ahhhhh...the smell of money infiltrates my nostrils. In a bid to gain voter's support, the Progress Package was doled out as early as Friday. And yours truly here has already spent some dough.

Mommy and daddy are refusing to let me get a digicam of my own. Okay. I will give in. This means more new clothes for me then. Hehehhe...

I joined the maddening crowds at Parkway Parade and bought myself a new adidas watch ( in pink!) at SGD25! and 2 more tops from dorothy perkins!

The search for my Norton Anthology text went down the drain. But at least i got my passage to india text. Money well spent i say.

Then it was dinner at Cahaya...man has it been ages since i came there for a meal. Its still as good as i remember.

So today, i am going to attack Bugis. Shirts for him and maybe skirts for me?

Ouh...yes, have i mentioned that test dates are already out? So i'll be a bz bee in may. Mid-may till the end of may that is.

Aqidah Quiz I (16th May 2006)

Aqidah Quiz II (18th May 2006)

Aqidah Mid-term (25th May 2006) + presentation

I love my aqidah presentation topic, its "Discuss syirik in Trinity and Pantheism"

I am so psyched to start working on the presentation already!!!

And my E. Lit III lecturer is sooooooo bubbly. She is infectious! Okay im starting to sound like im high on caffeine.

I guess it isnt so bad that i have her class from 5pm to 7pm. Its just the long afternoon stretch of class on thurs that goes from 2pm to 7pm that i can't take. But there isnt anything that a pack of sour skittles can't do.

P/s: things are coming along nicely. and slowly. he's just the one overdoing it. im cool. no pangs of missing him badly. k? rest assured i won't make the same mistakes that i've made before. thanks babe for your concern. u r truly one of my bestest friends! muackz. love u zakky!

First day back at IIUM

A mixed feelings of sorts. I am *as usual* not feeling it yet. I mean who is when you've only had like a one and a half week break. It was a pathetic break. and i am still exhausted. my body is still aching after a restliess night's sleep.

I already vacated the previous room and relocated to a new one. This one's on the second level (one level down) so it wasn't all bad as i thought...

BUT the previous owner of the room that i have to live in is a bloody filthy PIG! And she's a girl. Wat kind of girl keeps a room as filthy as that!? I was appalled at the sight of the room. I was annoyed at all the rubbish on the floor. The fan was black and peppered with all kinds of dust. Not to mention the RUBBISH HEAP underneath the bed. I dunno how she was able to stay in such a state.

Besides the rubbish, the mattress was a tad too short for the frame of the bed. so pple can see the immense amount of rubbish underneath it. And then there are faulty drawers. I was so pissed and so tired with the amount of things that i had to place back on the shelves and i have yet to clean underneath the bed. *yuck*

Yesterday was kinda bittersweet for me. I had to leave home again. This time with someone extra in mind. And he even passed by the bus on the way to the 2nd link at tuas.

*not to mention he was looking pretty cute in his blue polo tee*

Okay, i know, some pple want to hurl stuff at me at this point of time. Heehehehehe...but gimme a break.

So yesterday after getting all my stuff from the storage room. i had to unpack. by then i was too tired after cleaning the rubbish. *im still cleaning up after her* so i gave up and just walked around in that tiny space of mine.

Then i had my first 2 guests to my new room. Kak An and Kho graced me with their presence and we made plans to go for dinner. We joined shasha, suli, darwis, nasir, aisyah spec, ilham, farhanah, dewi and laila to OTK.

I got myself some pretty blue checkered wrapping paper to line all the dusty shelves. I never had a probably with the previous rooms. they were all clean you know.

then dinner ensued, we ate hurriedly cos we were all pretty famished and it had already begun to drizzle. so we all walked to the bustop to wait for the bus.

And guess what?

We waited for a bloody hour for the friggin' bus. I. HAVE. NEVER. HAD. TO. WAIT. FOR. A. BUS. FOR. AN. HOUR. (save for yesterday that is)

Of all the bloody nonsense that i've had to put up with, transportation woes are the worst!

By 11.15pm, we all gave up and took a cab back to campus.

I was too tired and fell asleep. So did the cutie back home.

So there, another eventful first day back at iium.

And today...hahaha...i thought i had a class till 7pm. but no...apparently i looked at the timetable wrongly. That's only on thursday.

so I've got a class everyday except for thursday (where there are 2 classes). and there are no friday classes for me! yipee!

I can't wait to come home this friday!

Missing home so badly...

At CCK watching a soccer match

My first soccer match with potential boyfriend.
Yes, suddenly there is a guy, who is very much boyfriend material (and possibly much more) that has appeared in my life.
Things are all whacked and not in perspective any more.
Its pretty much scared me. Quite a large shake up in my life right now.
He’s nice and really wants to get serious but I dunno how much longer this is going to go on. I love the fact that there is someone in my life that wants to devote every waking minute to me (tell me, which girl doesn’t?)
Haiz.
Life has certainly thrown me a curveball.
A nice curveball not to mention. -all smiles-

Life is pretty much smooth sailing (for now that is)
Next semester I’ll be taking 2 classes, aqidah and e. lit 3.
I dunno how aqidah is going to be like.
It’s a friggin’ 3 hour class.
Wat the hell am I supposed to do to keep myself awake???
I guess this is where all the tidbits are going to come in handy.
I’m going to have to work really hard to keep the grades up. I am so bloody motivated.
I want the dean’s list so badly.
I hope there will be another rise in cgpa (no matter how small the rise is)

Who is the guy you wonder?
Well, lets just say its someone I met at a wedding.
I’ll leave the rest to your wild imaginations.
I know you want more but im sorry. I have to filter lots of stuff.
You know how nosy some pple are. Not to mention the pple who are soooooo busuk hati.

Oh and btw, if some of you haven’t heard, watching Peterpan in concert in KL at Bukit Bintang in broad daylight constitutes as clubbing.
(go and eat your shorts/underpants/etc!)
Do you even know the definition of CLUBBING?

Clubbing (verb)
1) the act of pounding your head with a club till you bleed. (the kind you see in the flintstones cartoons)

The next time you have a bone to pick with anyone of us, tell it to our faces and don’t go around pretending that you’re so bloody righteous. I will screw you over. And by the way, thanks for telling our senior that we went clubbing. Thank god you’re graduating.
You really are one of the biggest hypocrites that I’ve met in my life. You really wanna make me HURL.

Go screw yourself.

And by the way, next semester begins as of TOMORROW. Bummer.

Reporting from Singapore

Its back home for me and im reporting from the comforts of my own bedroom! I am so ecstatic!

I am happy to see (most importantly read) that all my friends in UIA are catching up with their sch mates and their best friends. I am doing serious catching up with mine too!

I was so happy to see Zak again after almost 3 months of confinement in KL. And then i met up with bride-to-be, Huda at admiralty. Accompanied her for dinner at McD's, a lot of catching up done. I missed them both so much.

I went on a shopping spree. 3 new scarves, 2 rings, and a partridge in a pear tree...no, just kidding. Also got myself a new mouse (so that i can play Zuma better hehehe) and also a spanking brand new foam cover so that my Abg F can sleep in comfort and knowing he won't get scratched at again. Poor baby. I won't treat you badly ever again okay baby? Very sorry.

Meanwhile, healthwise, im doing okay but im still having these wierd noises that my stomach emits whenever i have just started to eat something and whenever there is discomfort. Its the kind of noise you get when you're damn hungry except mine is damn painful.

There is something very strange happening to my digestive system.

As i write, there is a jarring pain on the right side of my stomach. I pray it isnt my appendix. cos i've seen an appendix scar and it isnt pretty at all.

On the other hand...he is totally pissing me off. Refuses to answer his hp. Okay fine. then i wont contact him at all. see if i care!

Sicker than I've ever been...

I have been sick for at least over a week. It took its toll on sunday afternoon. I came down with a very bad case of food poisoning which put me out for 3 days. Today im feeling much better. Just a lot of gas in my tummy.

My digestive system really just wanted to take a well deserved break and lets just say i was feeling really shitty -pardon the pun-

I am currently at my grandma's place in good ol' kampung sikai in negeri sembilan. i will make my way back to singapore tonight. *at last!*

I am still convalescing so please don't expect me to jump up and down in delight when i get back. I might just make my way to the polyclinic the moment i set foot in singapore tomorrow morning.

Full details tomorrow then.

Yahooooooo!

If i thought yesterday was bad, then today its even worse. The library is ghost town. Everyone in campus is heading back home. Almost everyone is done with exams. and one of them is me!

I am a very happy person today. One, its my birthday. I am officially 22. What fun...NOT!

More responsibilities come a-knockin' as i grow older. And i can't believe tht im going to graduate next year. Wow. Time flies huh.

I finished my paper at around 4.20pm and i went out quickly. I just couldn't bear waiting till 5pm.

Its getting pretty lonely here. I can't wait till i board the train home. Just like the Hogwarts Express.

Hurry up 12th of April....aaaaaaarrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh its so stressful waiting here.

I'm missing home so much. My dad was expecting me tomorrow after i'd announced to him tht i had already finished all my exams.

Haiz.

I guess they must miss me as much as i miss them.

Enough. No more thinking about home no more. Patience k....

Happy Birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday to me!

One More To Go

Oh God...how long has it been since i last blogged. I so miss blogging. I will promise to do more of it when i go back. Meanwhile, wait for interesting developments coming in the near future.

Today i had my second last paper. Alhamdullillah it was pretty easy. Only the first question threw me off. I really should have read that chapter on mental grammar. The questions were pretty straight forward. Now there's only Islamic Literature left and then i'll be home free.

My body has decided to breakdown earlier than expected. Im down with the cold and fever. And i feel really miserable. I can't wait to go home to my fair isle and to my block that i've lived in for 21 years. I didn't know i'll be missing it THAT much.

On the home front, my little bro is sick. He's down with the fever and has been afflicted since last week. I think its the dreadful weather singapore's been having the past few weeks. Its been pouring cats and dogs and yesterday (i heard from a friend) and there was a flash flood in Bedok. Cars were submerged in water and motorcyclists had to push their motorbikes. I hope the weather takes a turn for the better when i get back. I would love to go to the beach and enjoy the sunny skies and the ocean sprays. East Coast Park wait for meeeeeeeeee....

_________________________________________________________

I dread the thought of moving from my current dorm room. I have moved for a total of 3 times in the past 3 years so that's once every academic year. I'm the sort of person who doesn't like to move and make residence elsewhere. I 'll have to pack and then move the stuff to the storeroom and then when i get back, move all the stuff into the new room and UNPACK. What a waste of time and energy.

Again i state for the record that I HATE PACKING AND MOVING!

I have that camp to go on the 10th so i will be back in singapore by the 13th. What a drag. Time can't move any slower right now. Pple left, right and centre of me are done with exams and are heading home. Some even finished their exams as early as last week and are now enjoying a 3 week break. Me? I only have a 1.5 week break before the short semester resumes at the end of April. Blearghhhh.

Meanwhile, Kak Sarhani and Uthman's wedding banquet held at UIA was fantastic. It was the best of both worlds. There was the kompang that accompanied the bride and groom and the traditional Sudanese dancing that was quite entertaining i heard. Sadly i couldn't stay long cos i had a killer paper on Monday.

Semantics wasn't a surprise at all. It was just that the questions were structured differently than what i first envisioned. But still it was a manageable paper. Okay...no more post-mortems on exam papers. Its just going to give me a heart attack.

Meanwhile, i have 2 days to utilise for the last paper. Must do very well to get an A! Must not disappoint myself and most importantly my parents!

Anyway...i just want to wish my very good friend here in UIA Nurul Khasanah Bte Agost a very happy 22nd bday!

Semoga Allah panjangkan umur you dan murahkan rezeki. Ameen. Met Ultah! Love you many² babe and thanks for all the memories! I will cherish them for life. Thanks also for the advanced bdae gift!

Homesick, frustrated and very stressed.

I feel that im on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

I cried last night.

Have no idea why.

This gap between the first paper and the last has taken too long. I am so stressed just by looking at pple taking their examinations way ahead of me. Everyone's going to finish ahead of me at this rate. But at least im thankful for the gap so that i can study.

Anyways. Tomorrow will be my 2nd paper. aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhh!

Hurry up already. Im tired of this waiting.

____________________________________________________

On the 27th of march, i bunked in at suli's (the bdae gerl) place. We all dressed up and put on makeup and just shimmied the night away. Cake and chocs and jelly's. The perfect bday party. I havent seen one of those in a long while.

So what happens when u take 13 girls and put them in a room with pon de replay + pump it + belllydancer blaring out of the stereo? I'll leave that to your imaginations *copyright from suli*

I am really really really missing home so badly! I want to cry, scream, punch someone and hurl something at someone right this instant. I don't know why!

Oh God pls give me strength to get me through these trying times. Ameen.

Now im off to hit the books again.

-He had better kept his promise-

Looonnng Road Ahead

Okay...so a quick recap of what happened last week.

Monday: We were still devastated by the loss. Got to eat rendang courtesy of Sabar Menanti & Pariamman. Psycholinguistics presentation and handed up final term paper for Novel and Short Story.

Tuesday: Kho's parents came down bringing home cooked Singapore food again! Yeay! Thanks to Kho and family very much!Meeting with ASSIIUM exco for farewell.

Wednesday: Nothing interesting.

Thursday: Final program under ASSIIUM this semester.

Friday: Family came down to IIU bearing FOOD!

So do you see the trend there? Every family that came this semester comes bearing food. Thanks to Nasir's family that started off the trend. But anyhow, its really good to have family members come down to visit. Not just for me but for everyone else too!

I didnt realise how much i missed my family esp. mom and dad and little bro. He's gttg smarter every second and his witty remarks never fail to make everyone smile. :D

I asked my mom to cook rawan and sambal goreng for all of us. then my grandma chipped in and made marble cake and sambal belachan and wat not. So we all ended up having a picnic at the HS canteen.

Wanted to go shopping with the family but my parents were tired so we only managed to get as far as OTK supermarket. Got my toiletries and essentials for exam. Most importantly MILO.

That night, went out again, this time with the fellow compatriots + E-chang from Indonesia. Had dinner at Kubur (pardon the name, its just that we've all been calling it Restaurant Kubur cos its located next to a cemetery). After the initial scramble to rent cars, we all managed although we were all delayed by an hour. But still we managed to get going.

Suli was hankering for Som-Tam. I didn't know what to have. Eventually settled for chicken tom yam soup and shared it with the rest of the girls. The kangkong belachan was more of batang (or stalks) of kangkong (green leafy veggie) rather than the actual leaves. Som-Tam aka thai salad made of papaya and various other veggies, was a no-go. Papaya was too soft. Next time lah k Suli?

I was actually very apprehensive about getting into a car, becos of the accident the previous week. But then i decided NOT to let it get to me. But really, it was a scary ride. Cos many cars weren't signalling. And it was night-time. So i was practically clutching on to the seat till my knuckles were white.

Alhamdullillah, we all got back in one piece. Did i mention i had a paper on Saturday? Yes. It was my first Final of the semester. Not a big deal. Just a co-curricular subj but nevertheless credited and does have an impact on the cgpa so like it or not, i still had to sit for it.

Tricky questions. Especially the ones about divorce and the iddah period thingy. Always trust your first instinct. Haiz. Well i blew that question but nevermind. At least i learnt something.

Now. The best part of Saturday was that I bought myself a pair of new BOOTS!!! I could not resist myself from splurging. I desperately needed a new pair after the old one had a hole in it and not to mention there was a nail that punctured my heel. So yes. I justify my buy with that lame and pathetic claim.

I just have to gush. They were the prettiest pair of boots i have ever seen the moment i laid eyes on it. And they were in my size! Do you know how hard it is to get a pair of boots with my kinda feet! Thank you Vincci for having that sale at the most appropriate period! Wheeeeee! Will show you once i have the time to upload the pics. Not to mention a great big thank you to Aisyah Spec for the lovely pre-bday celebration. The pizza and sphagetti carbonara was sooooooo goood!

Now i don't have to worry about wat to wear on my feet for Eid this coming year. Hehehhe...this is what i call thinking in advance.

And i would just like to congratulate Sis. Sarhani and Br. Uthman on their impending solemnization this weekend. I'm sorry that i won't be able to make my way back to singapore that weekend. That's when i have my first paper. But not to worry, I will be there on the 2nd of April. I am so excited for the both of you! By the way Kak Sarhani is Singaporean and Uthman is from Sudan.

Its not the first cross-cultural marriage the singaporeans have had. we've had 2 singaporean sisters marrying (1) an algerian & (2) a bosnian. very international rite? Not to mention countless other people marrying the locals here.

Abdullah is a product of a malay and algerian marriage and he is super handsome. Pity i don't have a picture. And the sister that married the bosnian. The baby is drop-dead gorgeous!

Can't wait for *yours*!

Well the other thing that can't wait are the exams. Just to inform you, i will take a hiatus from the blog to concentrate on the FINALS. Just to inform my babes in singapore, this is my schedule:

25th March (Sat); 9am: Literary Genres: Novel & Short Story

I'm sorry I won't be able to celebrate your birthday with you again this year Azimah. My humble apologies. Wait for your bdae prezzie k? And Zak, your pressie frm Last year is STILL with me. So sorry! Remind me k!

To all those that are having their birthdays during the examination period, just persevere k? Azimah, Sue Lee and Kho. Bless you guys. You're all the bestest friends i've ever had. All my friends here n across the causeway! I miss you loads babes!

By the way, i won't be coming home immediately when the exams end. I have a 3 day camp i have to attend. Just wait patiently lah k?

Well then, here's wishing me a "Happy 22nd Birthday" in advance to myself as well. As long as I have my loved ones im fine.

See ya soon people! Wish me all the best for the finals. And to all those out there having their finals, study hard so u can play harder during the break!

Believe ME...

when i say that the mood is sombre, i really mean it. many pple still havent gotten over the shock of his loss. many of us are still coming to terms with the loss. but i always say a prayer for him and hope that Allah will forgive his sins and that he will be placed among the syuhada. amin.

so today, it was classes and classes and more classes. its the last week of classes before we close up for the examination period. i have vowed to go for every single class this week. i really don't want to miss anything out. hoping that lecturer's will be kind enuf to give us some hints.

Today i was feeling ultimately -mentel- or feeling extra girly today. i wore my black jubah with blue detailing and wore it with my long white scarf. the kind that arabs wear. this one was a bit decorative from the customary black that they wear though. anyways, i was felt like prettyfying...(maner lah tau kan? *winkz*)

plenty of guys here. but not THE one. get it?

and the next time i come online to msn. please pple. stop asking me the same darned questions. im sick of it. i can't take it. and dun bother me with unnecessary questions kapische?

im still in campus. i have been in campus since 10am this morning and i havent retired to my room. i had classes all the way till five and a meeting ensued at 5.30pm. and as usual the meeting dragged all the way till close to 8pm. and i am super hungry but im waiting for the babes to finish class before i have my dinner with them.

A Prayer for the Departed

Pls say al-Fatihah for the demise of our Br. Md Zahid bin Yahya.

Semoga roh nyer dicucuri Allah S.W.T dan diletakkan bersama orang-orang yang beriman. InsyaAllah.

His passing has overshadowed everything else that has happened last week. I'm glad that many of us got to see him before he left us.

My friends and i personally attended the funeral rites at his home yesterday in Bangi. I just cant say much. I just feel like a stone's been dropped in the pit of my stomach. My heart feels heavy. All our hearts feel heavy here. His passing is a great loss but we will cherish whatever moments that all of us have had with him.

______________________________________________________________

Sorry lah kepada Aridewa ngan Kak Lis. I think even if you did invite me out i wouldnt have been able to make it. I was up to my neck in sch work and plenty of deadlines that i had to meet. But thank you very much for the thought. I appreciate it.

Sorry for being out of the blogging world for a solid one week. Its just been bz. Exams. Aaaarrghhh dreaded exams.

But on a serious note, this last weekend has a been truly one that has awakened me. Spiritually. This life is very temporary. You never know when you are going to return back to God. Sometimes the things that happen are things that we rarely expect and we really have to prepare ourselves constantly for death. And age has no bearing whatsoever.

The mood here is just sombre. We're all still grieving. Its hard for all of us but insyaAllah, we will go on.

Spare a little time to say a prayer for the departed.

Mary's Back!

Not that i havent been posting, okay, so i haven't been posting much this week lah.

I have been swamped like up to my neck in assignments and tests. I just had 3 tests this week and that MAJOR semantics assignment to hand in all before friday.

And Dr Fazal "kindly" gave us an assignment to do before the test. Aaaarrggghhhh.

And there's like so many things i have going on next week. ELits programme (for which i have to do concept paper by FRIDAY) and then there's ASSIIUM's mtg on Monday, programme the following day.

Help. help. help.

And i still have to wait 2 weeks before CREATIVE can replace my zen neeon. I need to have some music to chill. Apparently my neeon was snuffed out thanks to a hard disk failure.

-Dah lah Hard disk kosong. Heart disk pun kosong-

There was some exciting development this week. Not that extremely exciting.

The only exciting things that i happen to rant about these days is my progress in class. How extremely *exciting*.

Did i mention that im back in xinjiapo?

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee....hot showers for me!!!

I know, i know...

I know i said that the weekend was gonna be boring, but it wasn't all that bad.

I only watched Brokeback Mountain over the weekend. And please, if you don't have the stomach for gay sex scenes then you should give this show a pass.

To watch it, i had to drag out my super heavy old laptop to play the discs cos Abg F still doesnt want to cooperate with me. I think i shrieked and squealed everytime Jake Gyllenhall and Heath Ledger came up on screen. I will never look at those two in the same light again!

After lunch and continuing with Disc B, i had to get ready for class. Yeah...class on a Saturdaaayyyy...alamak i tell you lemauuu lah.

Lecturer isn't gonna be around this week so i had to go for the makeup class. Semantics on a saturday is NO fun at all lemme tell you that. The class ran from 2pm to 5pm! Aaaarrggghhhh, i thought i was going to cry in the middle of the class.

After class i made plans with Teej my roomie to go swimming, i met her at the pool right after class. Couldnt wait to sink my toes in the cool water.

I did around 8 laps. Just to relieve all the stress. I even met one of my classmates from the afternn class i had earlier on. She also wanted to relieve the stress...3 hours of semantics, who wouldn't go bonkers.

My arms were killing me after that swimming session. I woke up all sore. And i had to go and represent the English dept in a race that the Comm Students Assoc. organized yday. And i had to wake up bloody early and not go back to sleep after subuh. Now that was the major killer.

I had to get to the venue by 7.30am. And i was running a little behind time. So i had to climb over the fence (which is only unlocked after 8am). After that little stunt, i skinned my palm. And i hadn't even raced yet.

The only teams that had arrived were the Elits Team. We were the only society that fielded TWO teams. while some didn't even field ANY teams at all. We waited and waited and waited some more, it took ages for the committee to set themselves up and we also had to wait for the other teams to arrive. Luckily they provided breakfast. If not i' d have gone really hungry.

Okay...nak masuk bab mentel jap eh

There was a group of guys that dressed very the singaporean like lahhh...hehehe like Suli kata, macam Abg² Lobang. Hehehehe....they dressed like after the race they were going to head down to Orchard Rd. Haizzz...i miss home.

Macam abg² slackers hehehehe

Tapi darah up jugak lah cos they were the last team to arrive, and even had the cheek to have breakfast, and came in first in the race.

Tapi best arh dpt tgk diorang heheheh...i loiiikkkeeee...tanyer lah Suli how i reacted hahahahah

I am so juvenile. Hhehehhe...the things that made us do during the race. Omg, catch fish in the river that runs through our campus, search through sand for a set of keys, blow in a tray of flour to get to our clues. And i really could go on but i wont. Right now my legs are like super killing me after running all around campus yesterday.

Luckily we didnt go home empty handed. We came in third. Even after the little fiasco of getting to the last checkpoint. Nice hamper of food that we shared with the Boys from the Elits team (B).

And i got a lovely surprise from my grandparents and my aunt and uncle! They all came down to UIA to spend the rest of the evening with me. We had dinner and i got to ride in my uncle's new Toyota Wish. Very spacious and comfy. I LOIKE.

They packed for me rambutans, and lauk lemak cili padi and coke. I can't even remember the last time i had a gassy drink.

All in all, yday was a wonderful day. I should've flirted with the boys...hahahah. Rite Suli?

What’s the use of the Photocopy machine?

I’m spending my Friday afternoon in the Library again trying to research for my Prose assignment for Br. Mazlan.

Progress has been slow but nevertheless, research is always fun rather than writing the actual paper itself. Procrastinating yet again.

Sometimes when im left alone to do write these term papers I somehow manage to get it done at the laaaasssssstt minute. And I have been given 28 days for this assignment (for which I have no class since the 13th of Feb. till the 12th of March) I am so lazy.

Today I’ve gotten down to the second social cause in the study of the social novel. I like this topic cos I get to reread my fave book. The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan and the utterly boring book of To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

I know many pple will argue with me to say that Mockingbird is a great book…but I have NEVER been able to actually read and comprehend the novel. It’s a wonder that I actually passed my Literature at the Ordinary Level with a decent grade. I guess that’s why I’ve ended up reading the novel again. But this time I can’t even borrow the book! Cos I haven’t returned a single book that I’ve borrowed from the library. I’m actually using Suli’s account to also borrow books for the assignment.

I simply forgot to bring the books that I don’t need for the research. Super selenger bachin.

So since I’ve used up the all the quota for book borrowing, I resorted to typing down the important notes I needed for the assignment. I think after half an hour, I realized that I could have spared myself the agony and the stupidity by simply PHOTOCOPYING the parts I needed.

-tu lah, mak hantar gi blajar kat university tapi otak tak gunakan ^slaps forehead^-

So now, I am going to photocopy the things that I need.

Btw Abg F is acting up. Dier nak tgk part B aje tapi part A dier tak nak accept dulu. Haiz…its gonna be a boring weekend.

If only we had a car...

Then we could drive around the whole night and have loads of laughs, just us...(till we cry)

Spent the most of last night lepak-ing with the girls. Laff and talk then laffed sum more...hehehe...it was so much fun that you guys really did deserve the Secret Recipe cake.

Suli needed to change her dollar notes and i had to withdraw my money and make new lenses for my pretty peepers. And Kho just wanted to tag along. So it was a menage-a-trois.

I love. love. love. spending time with my babes. Keeps my mind off things for a while. Especially the gerls back home.

*wish i were back to spend the weekend with you guys, but alas, semantics class beckons-on saturday might i add*

So we waited for the bus which never materialised after waiting for abt half an hour. Hailed a cab. Dropped us off at the usual spot. Had to go pee badly so i went to McD's and utilised the ladies there and then drew my cash and walked to Plaza Idaman for our cakes and exchange her dollars for ringgit.

Minor set back when we got to the money changer *which i always go to* was closed. Walked about a bit. And then realised we were looking at a money changer without realising it.

Not to mention that it was a really brilliant day and i could not stop myself from smiling.

Cos Nasir's mom kindly cooked for us Ayam Masak Merah and headed to KL just in time for lunch with all of us! How nice is THAT!? Thank you so much to the Johari family for coming to KL just to feed us! Hehehehe...

After gttg our dessert and getting the moolah, we all headed to the optician to get myself a new pair of contact lenses. Lemme tell you. The guy who served us was blardy cute. Very the up to our standards...hehhehehe...We flirted with him, we checked him out and had great balls of fun!

The flirting got our appetites up so when we headed jsut next door to have our dinner and her supper. 2 thosai masalas and one naan for the 3 of us. Yum...its as good as it is back home. And the thosai is BESAR. and set us back ONLY RM2...yummy and affordable.

i wish we had more time. so we could like lepak the whole night with teh-tariks and laughter to fill us up.

Thanks so much girls.

I am gonna remember last night forever.

-Muackz-

Something fishy...

Its been a few days since ive blogged. I really miss this space of mine. Today i feel a bit senti-mentel okay so bear with me lah.

The fishy business...yes. Lets get down to it.

What do u do when someone actually calls u to tell you that they've changed their number? Yes. Normally pple just sms u their new number right? Noooo...not this person.

And this happened only earlier today. I'm a bit at a loss. Speechless for words lah. Not only that but 'B' also smsed to invite me to his class...meaning?

Is this the result of the dreams i had?

I just had to tempt fate didn't I?

_____________________________________________

Anyway, i had my registration today and i am proud to say that im a full fledged 3rd yr student!

I have 5 core courses and 1 minor. Plus the Co-curricular skill that i wanted! Swimming!

I want that swimming cert so badly. Not to mention a damn gd reason to get my lazy bum working.

I am finally taking Malaysian and Singaporean Lit. I heard we'll be discussing Alfian Saat! Coolness.

And Computer Applications in Language Studies. Brilliant!

Lots of gd stuff to look forward to. Unfortunately im nearing the end of my studies. I didnt noe that 3.5 years would end so quickly.

I don't feel like closing this chapter of my life. Its seen the best and worst moments of my life!

And who knew i'd ever end up in this instituition!? Allah really works wonders. And i don't think i've thanked him enough for this journey. Still working on it.

I am still a working progress.

I discover something new everyday. And although i claim to say that im bored, i don't think i ever have. I'm learning to appreciate life in a new light.

Suddenly the light has dawned on me.

Dr. Fazal Rahim, my Western News Networks lecturer was so passionate about his lecture today. I love his facial expressions and the way that he expresses his views. And today was no exception. Plus, we were talking about the issue of the Prophet (S.A.W) being caricatured. Now that was the best lecture i've had with him so far.

Freedom of expression bullshit. Don't believe everything pple/media say. Or do for that matter. Go screw yourself ferst and den tell me freedom of expression kay? And i mean that very literally.

I have yet to post the haiku that one of the lecturers wrote about this issue. I found it very beautiful. Will post it up once i get it aight?

By the way like my new pic? Hehehehehe....i think i look cute in this pic! :D

- i need moments of self-assuarance at times-

Anyway enough rambling. I have a quiz that i havent studied for and tons of editing to do for my semantics paper. I have a constant love/hate relationship with Dr. Subra. God help me. As long as he doesn't go overboard i'll respect him.

Ok. Im outt.

Loooong week.

Its been an immensely tiring week for me. Mengantuk...menguap...all of it lah.

Tgh pikiran pasal Prince of Egypt? Takderlah sgt...

I don't know. There's this stupid nagging feeling in the pit of my stomach.

Smalam Kho said something to the effect of: to receive love you've got to give it. Then today Dr. Subra mentioned the Theory of Abundance. The circle of giving. Apparently, when there is a vacuum, nature will instantly fill it.

Give, its relatively simple. But sometimes you give and give and give and the person takes advantage of you. It isn't all fair issit?

Aaaarrgghhhh...this cesspool of emotions is eventually going to overwhelm me one day.

I'll worry about it later.

By the way, its finally the weekend. Although i do have one class tomorrow at 12pm. Haiyahhhh cancel je lahhhhh...

Today i can enjoy n watch vcds like every other thursday night. Will probably watch either Brokeback Mountain or Final Destination 3.

Yesterday me and Suli wanted to get that pair of Birkenstocks we saw last week. Tapi kedai nyer takderrrrrr....after one week of waiting and longing. Haiz...guess i'll have to wait and long some more.

This weekend im so smothered in work that i wont be coming back home. Thought of going back this week but there's an assignment due tuesday. If i go back i'll be sure that i wont be at home studying. Mesti mau merayap.

Craving: Kachang Phool. Sluurrrp. And my fave laksa. And murtabak. And my mom's macaroni soup. Do you suppose it has got anything to do with the fact that im fasting today? Guess so.

Nak balik next week but i've promised my grandparents that i'll probably pay them a visit. It will be nice to be back. At least there's family. I miss little Ika and Comel. I'm going to smother Ika with hugs i tell you. Been reminiscing about her silly little antics.

Aaaaarrgghhhhh....my head is pounding!

Less than 2 hours before i break my fast.

Need some TLC badly.

By the way, my Zen Neeon has gone completely bonkers on me. It refuses to charge when i plug it in and when i try to play it, only the CREATIVE logo is displayed on the screen.

Feds Up betul. No more FLY.fm in the mornings to keep me company and my fave Pump It by BEP.

I hope it isn't permanently spoilt.

I'll need to get it fixed pronto!

I can hear my assignments calling out to me.

Adios then for now.

Hi, My name is Suhaili

This is what you get when line get crossed and there is endless static when trying to converse with someone even though they are right in front of you.

The tale goes like this:

There once was a guy, that had been all over the place. And i mean it quite literally. He was born in Libya, is a Malaysian citizen, so is his dad (but his dad is of Indonesian stock). His mom and sis though, are singaporean citizens. Yeah complicated oredi rite? But i am only just beginning.

He has just only warmed up to a few singaporean students here and we occasionally converse when we bump into him in the hallways.

Anyway, yesterday was a day to always think and laff back at.

I was talking to him outside the library mid-morning after i had deliberately missed class. Talked a while asn saw my friends Darwis and Adha walk into the library. Okay with the guys he has no problem with names but with the gerls, there is a bit of a problem.

He asked me: "Kau tunggu siaper?"

Reply: "Aku tengah tunggu untuk Shasha"

He says: "Siaper Shasha?"

I say: "Dier Darwis nyer gf lah. Ko tak tau? Selama ni kau panggil dier aper?"

And he replies: "Aku selama ni panggil dier 'OI' aje"

Hahahaha...i couldnt contain myself. That was only in the morning. So when i met him at the library again in the afternoon, i casually asked him:

"By the way do you know my name?"

And he *dengan muka selambe dier jawap*:

"Tau, nama kau Suhaili."

Me and my friend Nora just cracked up. And he looked at us dumbfoundedly. And i looked at him wondering whether he was serious. Apparently he was.

I said, "How could you not know my name? Macam gini sey kawan..."

*walk off*

He pulls on my bag and says: "Oi serious ke nama kau bukan Suhaili? Kau jangan tipu lah..."

and i pull out my wallet and show him my matriculation card which has my name printed on it in black and white.

And he grins sheepishly.

That simply had to be the best laugh i've had in ages.

Oh and Happy Belated V-Day or Friendship Day *watever you want to call it*

And p/s: I won't be home this weekend either. Or the week after that. So just msg me if you guys wanna contact me k? Ciao babes

I just got back my semantics paper from that very insensitive lecturer and I GOT AN A!!! Wahoooooooo! Alhamdullillah. All that unnecessary worrying...sheesh...Thank You God!

Fed Up.

I have probably HAD it with this blog. I spent almost 45mins composing an entry last night and -poof- it disappeared. I was so pissed with the fact that the server was totally uncooperative and it really pissed me off last night.

I wasn't just ANY entry okay. It was an entry almost entirely in Malay. You know how rare it is for me to blog in malay?

I seriously don't feel like going for this 10am class today. I just wanna sit in the library, in front f the PC and just blog and bloghop and chat. I can't believe i actually woke up early to come to the library and blog. Sheesh...i am the most rajin person i tell you (in respect to doing things that are totally not important lah!)

I had a soul-searching chat with some of the gerls last night. We talked about boys, relationships yadda yadda yadda. Semua tgh stress in one area or another.

It was refreshing to talk about it. I guess it also helped me open up my mind a bit. Relax. Let my brain take a breather for a while before the madness seeps in again.

I thought i stood alone on some aspects but i was in fact very wrong. We're alike in many ways.

But still i can't let go totally and just release this flood of emotions that i've been holding back. I don't think i've told anyone in fact. I'll just have to let it sit in me and steam off a little longer. I dunno. Sometimes i still think i have a problem in settling in. Like i can't get along with anyone but the thing is, i get along famously with a few close friends. I really have no idea wat's bothering me these days.

Aaaaarrrggghhhhh its already 10.30! I am so the malas to go to classssss...

To go Or not to Go? If i stay here i can check out the news. *impt liao....my western news network lecturer might give a Pop Quiz on the news thats happening these days*

And i could start looking for books for my assignment.

So many choices so little time!

Okaylah...out!

Ooops He Did It Again.

Enuff with the insensitive remarks oredi lah. One day is fine by me. But this is twice in a week. Guess wat the lecturer said to the whole class today after our mid-term test?

"Everyone should score high marks except for one."

Then this one guy just HAD to ask who.

So the lecturer replied:

"Someone from a neighbouring country."

Wat the *beep*!!!!!!

Its bad enough being the only S'porean in the class. But he really didn't have grounds to single me out like that.

Now im seriously wondering if he's gonna penalise me.

I'm already tired after sitting for 3 consecutive papers today. Please arh don't screw up my day until like dat.

Sorry arh but gotta say [FUCK sia!]

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Selenger to the MAX!
I have been so absent minded i tell you! I swear i thought i'd left my matriculation card in my wallet.

And lo and behold, when i reached the entrance to the library, IT WASN'T THERE!!! *fishsticks!*

I really had no choice BUT to go back to my room (which isn't a stone's throw away okay! and i had left my trusty handphone back in my room...darn it!) I basically had to trudge my way back up the hill that I just painstakingly came down from. *sia-sia aje bangun siang*

In the end, i really didnt have the time to go do watever i had to do. Reason being: the photocopy shop was still not open for biz yet! Aaaaarrrggghhhh!

And den today, my dear Dr. Subra suprised us (his semantics students) with a mid-term exam this thursday which brings the total tally for mid-sem tests this coming thurs to a total of THREE!

Bingiiiiittttt!

And! He just realised that im the only singaporean in class. Blardy hell. And he HAD to just single me out in front of the whole class and say:

"Hey, did you know that she's Singaporean?

-pauses & looks expectantly at the class & goes on-

"You should all kick her out. She's singaporean, msia's enemy."<br>

I know he meant all of it in good faith. But it still hurts. There are other students of different nationality in there also wat. Why must single me out like that. So embarassing.

I tell you my ears were burning when i left the class. Sheesh. Enough with the surprises already.

Another 3 more days till the end of the sch week. *Please hurry! My head's about to burst.*

Till then adieu.

By the way Suli if you happen to read this: If you have any worries talk to someone. Unburden yourself. k? I hate to see my friends sad! All the best with watever you have to do back in singapore this week k babe?

Walk Like An Egyptian...

The weather has been really kind lately. Alhamdullillah. I haven't even been feeling depressed or anything. Not even a hint of PMS! Hehehhe...

I guess im still on that BSB high!

I still can't believe that i had the privelege of going to A BSB CONCERT!!!

The week has been really great.

The test that i didn't study for was in fact an open book test. Bless Dr. Umar.

And i got to see my egyptian crush. Heheheh...Right Suli, right right??

Hah...blissful i tell you. 2 days straight that i got to see him. It was quite accidental. Never even planned on meeting him there but it was pure happenstance.

Okaaaayyyy i sound like im high on helium and morphine.
I really cant help it. The weather's been positively gorgeous!
Really thankful for the good weather.
Speaking of good weather, I should really go do my laundry! Its like piling up and i've only been here like 4 days.

Oh btw, did i mention i got to see the gorgeous egyptian guy? Oh i did...hehehehe....Super Selenger
Before i make a lot of people throw up, i better move along.

More tests await me next week as usual. Registration for the next 2 semesters are coming soon. I've already done up my timetable. I have less than a year to go. I can't believe that im going to graduate soon!

Its certainly a really scarey thought. Liberating but scarey nevertheless.

Taking American history next sem. Just realised that i should have taken history as an elective subject. It would have helped me loads with literature. Anyways, it will be an audited subject but wat's more important is that im getting one of the BEST lecturers in UIA!
Prof. Dr. Bogdan Kopanski
Polish by birth but is an American citizen. The best part about taking this audited subject is that i wont have to sit for any test or even the final exam.
I loiiikkkeeee!
But the main concern is that Dr. Kopanski is a really brilliant lecturer. And after all the rave reviews that he's been getting, I really hope i get the subject.
His lectures are never boring cos he always brings videos for his students to watch!
My kinda lecturer i tell ya!

Tomorrow, one test awaits me.
Psycholinguistics.
Gah.

Its driving me psycho. Especially the chapter on sign language.
Lets see whether i sign off from that test well.
