my brother n sister are in uk with my uncle's family. which leaves me home alone. yes.
i've been home alone since sunday and I haven't left the house since yesterday.
i haven't been so lonely since a long time.
and having the flu while at the height of H1N1 is nt funny at all.

my laptop has decided to go on a holiday too.
this means tht it has also denied me the pleasure of working on my laptop for long periods of time bcos it has *overnight* become really slow and very uncooperative. i am also testing out blogging frm my brand new htc touch diamond 2.
i am seriously annoyed with my laptop because i had to do a partial reformatting of my hard-drive and as a result, i've lost all my documents and photos.
not only am i miffed but i am really depressed over this new development.
and im supposed to be really happy since gesl's over and there's langkawi n kl to look forward to!
damn the consequences!

Its only day three of the holidays.

Bored out of my skull.
There are things to do.
Like my G*ESL project that's due to be executed next wednesday.
i HAVE a presentation tomorrow.
Which i have SCARCELY prepared for.
So what's this about being bored?
I dunno.
Its just this sudden void in my life that has yet to be filled.
I noe i want to go out with someone really badly hehe.
*i cant wait for saturday*
arghhhh. i am super lazy to get started with this presentation slides.
I hate this stupid project thing.
Insanely time consuming worthless piece of ****
Thats how i REALLLLLY feel about it.

I havent seen any of my friends outside of school.
Well with the exceptions of U*mi and A*zura that is.
I feel bad for neglecting them.
Guilty even.
Very guilty.
Juggling school and social life isnt so easy after all.
I hate to think of what's to come later on.
But at least DK makes effort to come meet me!
That's the one silver lining i have.
Thank you love.
If not for you, i don't think i'd have much of a social life.

The aftermath of watching flying objects launched into the sky,
watching things from a great height, and hearing some mad girl scream:
Wohoooo I love Harleeyyyy!
(proceeded by a certain Someone to rev his engine pffttt. show offff =p)
hahahahahahahahahaha
*If she only knew that the bikes weren't actually harleys but super tricked out hondas and yamahas muahahahahaha*
All the six if us were chuckling in amusement.

Watched Star Trek last night.
It was WORTH every penny.
I loved every second.
Kept me in my seat and didn't bore me to tears.
The humour was excellent too!
It was a good thing Angels & Demons was sold out for that time slot ahakz.
After which we proceeded to the F1 track to view the X-fighters exhibition tour.
Not really my thing.
The stunts got my stomach shrivelled.
Do their moms even know the kind o f danger they put themselves in!?
But we got on the Sg Flyer to watch everything from the pods.
minus the crowd and the stifling heat.
It was nice and cool and very conducive for watching flying bike stunts from a distance.
Haha.
After that we proceeded to Lau Pa Sat for dinner.
My food and drink were disappointing!
Now i know why people prefer Newton to Lau Pa Sat anytime!!!
The ride back home was fast and *painful*
I lost all sensation in my butt.
Ahakz.
I don't see how some people enjoy being pillion riders.
Thankfully Singapore is small.

I got my new HP!
Loving it.
Still learning and playing with my new toy.
It feels weird not to press the keypad to sms now.
But!
The best part is:
WIFI.
It is God's gift to Man in this age of technology.
I wouldn't noe wat to do without FB or Twitter.
Yes.
I'm guilty of being too wired.
*i think this explains why im highly irritable with high levels of anxiety as well*
But of course, like you said the other night:
Me or Facebook?
I'd pick you of course (while sneaking a peek at my hooked up HP teehee)
Joking!
I'd pick you.
Honest.
Cos im lovin' those dimples

Entry:Kismet
Definition: Fate; Destiny.
Used in a sentence: I wonder if you are my kismet at all

When you're in too deep...all the crazy emotions surface.
All but my own doing.
I pray that:
a) i don't get hurt
b) i won't be disappointed
Right now, im living in perpetual fear.

And truth be told,
I've never written a love poem for ANYONE.

that i'd really love to say to a certain someone.
but i guess its not really time yet.
i'll just be waiting.
patiently till the opportunity arises.
Fin.
p/s: i am smitten beyond words. like what R*euben said, there's no way i can go beyond this level.
but i'd really like to prove him wrong.
A few months ago, S*eri put up a blogpost about some teaching strategies.
And it occurred to me that i don't just have N*IE friends but also friends that are teaching but in different fields as well.
So i think its best that i use this platform for sharing.
I think my B*ENL friends that are teaching will hopefully find it useful InsyaAllah.
So in the past 4 months in N*IE what have I learnt?
I've learnt that in teaching, its not just a job.
It has to become an all consuming passion to help and educate students.
And you have to cater to ALL your students.
So i think the basic idea in teaching is, whatever new topic you teach, you need to bring in their prior knowledge.
Help them form new schema to cope with the new topic.
Better yet, make links from the previous topic to the new one.
It helps students greatly.
Another thing i find useful is contextualising whatever you're teaching.
Contextualising meaning, help students understand through examples that are localised or familiar.
And most of all, i think as teachers, we need to be performers as well.
Creative performers.
And no im not talking about being a clown.
But you need to be creative in your classes.
How you choose to present the topic to your class greatly determines how much input is going to be received by your students.
And one more thing...
PREPARE, PREPARE, PREPARE!
Lesson Planning is KEY!
But whatever you prepare does not mean it HAS to be carried out.
You must be able to adapt to certain changes that occur within class time.
Sometimes you might just lose that essence if you follow your lesson plan rigidly.
These are just my 2 cents.
Feel free to comment.
And my B*ENL peeps that are lecturing: SWAP notes laaaa!
I need Language Resources!

Remember a while back (probably a year ago) i wrote an entry on tonsilitis?
The one where i described my voice akin to "hot potato voice"?
Well its BACK!.
In fact, it has made its appearance yet I couldnt feel anything.
Apparently, according to the Doc, my body has grown accustomed to it and will manifest itself without the normal symptoms.
So missing were the fever and the maddening pain at the back of my throat.
Doc said that it has come to the point that white spots had already appeared on my tonsils (i.e. pus!)
I really thought i just had a bad cough that was going on for way too long.
Had i known, i would have not gone to school this mrng and taken a full day's worth of MC.
Lucky im a civil servant.
Heh.
That's probably the only silver lining lah.
Neway...
Last night my dad launched an enquiry about my D*arkKnight (DK).
The moment i stepped into the car, he said i smelled of motor oil.
Heh.
I guess he must have seen DK the night he sent me home after our date =D
Normal questions were asked like:
What's his name?
What's his dad's name?
where does he live? how many siblings does he have? is he the eldest? javanese/boyanese? where is he working? how long has he worked?
and finally...
are you guys serious?
All i could say was:
We're still getting to know each other.

Planning a holiday is fun.
But it is never easy.
We have to consider people's tastes and preferences and we have to come to a compromise somewhere.
But above all...
I REALLY wanna travel with all of you!
*especially before we embark on the treacherous p*racticum that looms before us*
back on track:
our plans were initially to go to KL.
then it suddenly changed course to Bali.
then somehow, because of some availability of flights issue, it got changed to Redang instead.
After enquiring about Redang, we thought it was a LITTLE too pricey for a short getaway.
So somehow or rather....
it got changed BACK to the original plan of KL/Genting.
Haha.
And i have somehow become the unofficial planner for this trip of ours.
I pray that we cm to some kind of resolution soon.
amiin.
*i am really missing someone. i thought i would be okay. but i definitely thought wrong. oh i am just sooooo majorly screwed.*

A lot of mayhem went on this mrng for the teaching of drama class.
One that made us all sweaty and high from laughter.
We had animals, characters from books and comics, n.s. "men", dysfunctional families and one very good pole dancer!
-the things we were subjected to in class-Hahahahahaha....one that caused f*adly to get a nosebleed.
It was hilarioussssss!
I can definitely see myself carrying out those things in class =)
I love, love, love my Lit lessons here at N*IE!

Its a sunny Sunday
A perfect day for a picnic.
I OUGHT to be doing something productive.
Like:
1) completing Heartlands
2) doing up my lesson plan for the prose package
3) ironing my clothes for next week.
4) and generally cleaning up my room -which has since had a mind of its own-
My sister is in school completing her garments for her final fashion show.
I should be as motivated as she is.
But i cant seem to get off my lazy bum.
Plus, the warm weather is doing no gd for me either.
feeling so damn lazy....

It has been a VERY packed week despite the short week that we were bestowed with last week.
I celebrated my 25th birthday last week!
Had to prepare for assignments, left, right and centre.
I now know why S*hereen was so busy when she was in N*IE.
There was a poetry package to design (some tweaks made after the consultation with the tutor)
Preparing for tutorials.
The ed. psych assignment due today *which took me AGES to complete*
And preparing for my comm. skills oral presentation today
Not only that, F*iction55 also had to be completed.
*phew*
That was a pretty long list.
A lot of my classmates were absent today and even the tutor in one of the classes let us off early because we all looked so dead tired.
Hahaahaa, we probably looked like dead chickens.
But of course the highlight of last weekend (besides completing my 2500 word essay in record time) was my date!
Yes i had a D.A.T.E!
I had a date with mr. a*yie =)
so lomantic hahaha.
i had oodles of fun.
well lets just say he's special to me.
*smiles*
I spent a total of 12.5 hours with him yesterday.
Imagine that.
We went on the luge twice!
*glad to report that i did not have to embarass myself by wearing the helmet the other way around hehe *
We went to the 4D theatre.
We tried to catch the sunset over at the s*outhern most tip of the asian continent
(sadly the clouds covered up the glowing fiery ball dipping into the ocean)
and finally we caught the cable car back to the mainland
*i am seriously gg to fall in love if he keeps this up*
*sigh*
as of now, i am totally, completely, overwhelmingly...

Dear all,
Received some news late yesterday. One of my colleagues has fallen sick and has been hospitalised so they are pulling me out of Q*CR520 [your Lit course, in case you didn’t know] and redeploying me to do his course effective next week. It appears that I am the only one they can find with the school experience needed to do the course. Mr T*ang (who is doing the other QCR520 class) or Mr A*ngus W*hitehead (who also has experience doing Q*CR520) will probably take your class. I find this ironic since we were just talking about Mr A*lex at lunch yesterday. Anyway, it comes at a good juncture as we close the Poetry section [I will still assess this component] and the Prose section begins next week. I am sure I will be able to find excuses to come into your class or meet up with you guys for lunch or bubble tea (if I get invited). The decision is pending depending on the diagnosis of my colleague’s condition and should be confirmed by this Friday. I will be meeting my Department Head later this afternoon after my presentation and will update you at tomorrow’s lesson.
Until then,
D
This man, my Lit tutor, Mr. D*ennis Y*eo is like a freakin' genius lah when it comes to pranks.
*Belum sempat orang lain nak prank, dier dah prank orang lain via email....>___< ...kentut tul*
He practically fooled almost ALL of us.
I had classmates who were so upset and those that even replied "its okay... your colleague will get well soon, we'll see you around sometime"
Hahahaahahahaha...
Another one was soooo mad and riled up that she replied in the email:
ok wait wait WAIT! this had better be an APRIL FOOL'S JOKE because i'm THIS CLOSE to banging down the department head's door and yell at his face. SERIOUSLY. i will petition, picket, WHATEVER it takes if they really really remove you from this course!!!
And when he made an appearance at the canteen today, my classmate went up to him and said, "You evil maaan!"
It was hilarious! He is soooo going to get an earful when we come to class tomorrow.
See how much we L.O.V.E our tutor? Its amazing the amount of L.O.V.E that we all have for one another hehehe.
I seriously L.O.V.E school.
I L.O.V.E my classmates
I think im falling in L.O.V.E.
Still flying...still floating =)

I could have posted it cos i was feeling happy.
Cldnt that be a possibility??
Oh well, i do feel a tingling.
A little tingling.
Jusst a teensy bit of tingling from all that floating and that flying.
Its still too early to tell.

Stop treating me like dirt.
And stop "using" me will you.
You may get your kicks.
But where's mine?
I put you out of sight...
But then months later, you appear, just wanting to wreck havoc with my emotions.
Screw you!
On another totally different note:
After trying to put you away for so long.
Boxing you up and shelving those memories...
*To be burned later on in the deepest recesses of my mind*
I turn and i see YOU
and HER.
Her carrying your babe in her swelling belly.
Everything comes crashing all around me.
All the boxes i try to shove at the back of my "memory" closet come spilling out.
Spilling all its contents all over me.
Hitting me hard and fast
Till i am numb.
Numbness.
That's what it is.

In my efforts to become fitter this year (and hopefully more toned)
I have embarked on some fitness classes.
And as you can see from the title, i have begun kickboxing classes!
Very cheap and well worth your money i tell you.
Just go to your nearest CC.
Even someone who used to go to A*more was saying that the class was comparable to the ones that she used to do.
The woman who conducted the class was so uber fit lah!
She's so friggin' toned.
And i almost gave up halfway thru the class.
I was dying of exhaustion and literally sweating buckets lah.
But it was really good.
Especially when you're doing ur punching movements.
I felt like a real fighter....NOT!
The most i could do was to pretend that i was punching some filthy conniving ex-boyfriend of mine.
And hey, it worked!
Hahahaha.
That was only the first class.
And thank you D*arwina for suggesting this brilliant idea and im so thankful i have an exercise buddy like u.
C u in class tomorrow lah.
Good night pple....i still have to slave over this dumb LIT essay.

I think all of you know tht i love Lit like nobody's business.
I think its a handy skill to have.
And now that im in training to TEACH lit, its a totally different ball game now.
But the BEST thing that's happened since a long time is D*ennis Y*eo my Lit. shifu in N*IE now.
He's this awesome, off-the-beaten-track, i don't care if you say the wrong things, kinda teacher.
It is TOTALLY awesome and inspiring to be in his classes.
*can i just say i really dun wanna leave?*
And he's one of the best teacher's i've had in my less than 3 mth stint in N*IE.
We've been doing poetry the past few lessons and i have to make this clear, i don't really have an affinity for poetry.
I am a prose type of gal.
But he has structured his lessons in such a way that i am starting to love poetry.
How the **** is this possible!?
Has he gotten something embedded in my brain while i wasn't looking?
Nevertheless, hes like the awesomest teachers around.
He's got us writing poetry and reading poetry and i like the fact that he didn't do dry 17th century poetry right off the bat with us.
He started us off easy and is doing great stuff!
For the next lesson, he's got us looking for a pop (or any other genre) song that has the potential to be a poem, i.e. that has some form of structure and uses some literary device.
So now i am scrolling through my spartan collection of songs for use in his class on THURSDAY.
Cmon, arh, what kind of teacher gets you so excited to do his work at least a FULL day ahead of class?
Amazing right?
Fin.
p/s: Nora you would adore the man. He's so insanely fantastic. I can safely say BETTER than Prof Q! *gasp*

When God put me on Earth, He wasn't kidding when He said i'd be His vicegerent.
I am ultimately THANKFUL and GRATEFUL to have been one lucky soul to have been chosen and accepted to go to U*IA.
I now see the hikmah behind His workings.
Little did I know, working in the secular field actually allows me to field questions from other faiths, allow greater interactions with other faiths, and ultimately helps me to explain and correct misconceptions to allow greater understanding of Islam to those who have little or no understanding.
So i challenge those of you in the Islamic field, go out and go forth.
Break the mould so that you yourself may understand your faith even more (and gain more appreciation) and to let others be more educated on Islam.

*note to self: when in doubt just WEAR your damn contacts!*
So how did i go "celebrate" the end of the grammar test?
I went to T*angs to go do some research for some M*AC products with my classmate Y*vette
And the both of us got a mini-makeover from the makeup artiste, J*amie.
She is so totally skilled i tell u that woman.
And she was extremely entertaining!
She kept on saying "Lovaaahhhhhh"
Hahaha....it tickled me PINK!
Y*vette got a better and more comprehensive make-over than i did cos we were kinda pressed for time but STILL she did a MAGNIFICENT job!
I bombarded her with so many questions.
From the benefits of sponge application vs brush application.
How to apply eyeliner so it doesn't smudge.
*which J*amie hilariously described smudged eyeliner to being raped! hahahahah*
I had a LOT of fun.
I felt totally gorgeous and definitely a PERFECT stress reliever.
Must do that again some time!
And i don't feel like taking my makeup off anytime soon. Heheh

It still reeks when i have to do assignments.
Not one, not two, but MANY in the months to come.
Which is why i am thinking about my well earned holiday this coming june.
There will be many hiatus-es in the coming months.
Especially now that all my courses are in FULL swing.
But alhamdullilah, two classes will end come April.
Right now i have a grammar test that is bugging me.
And whoever scheduled a test on a THURSDAY evening at 6.30-8.30pm seriously needs to be shot.
But the quote of this week (and many many moons to come)
will still be mr. R's question.

Needless to say we were greatly humoured.

I spent the earlier part of the afternoon shopping for stuff at Ikea.
All planned purchases.
I had so desperately wanted to get a bigger and better shelving unit.
Thanks to the insane amount of books that i have PLUS all the notes that i accumulated over the last 5 months of 2008.
Thankfully and quite serendipitously, there was a sale that just commenced this week.
I had already planned to set aside $150-$200 on the shelving unit.
But with good fortune on my side, i managed to score a beautiful shelving unit at the marvellous price of SGD$29!!!!

Thanks to that, i even managed to score some OTHER items like hangers ($1 for a set of 5!)
*and bought 2 sets of those*
and a clock that cost me actually SGD$10 MORE than the shelving unit haha.
Plus! some magazine folders for SGD$5.
It's such a fabulous sale.
I wish i could have brought home another shelving unit though.
It was just too big to get into the car.
Oh well, i saved approximately $70 for NOT getting the other one.
So i only spent a grand total of SGD$69!!!!
I just could not believe my luck.
I'm soo pleased with my purchases.
Now that's what S*uze O*rman calls a savvy shopper.

At this point in time i would like to point out to you that i DO not in any way enjoy being mentally tortured for 2 hours at a time, being explained the GRAMMAR rules in detail.
Not to mention the gajillion instances where there are exceptions to almost EVERY other rule.
So the point of creating the rule is??????
I just simply CANNOT fathom this phenomenon.
Even more torturous is the fact that I've DONE Michael H*alliday's Functional Grammar.
A course that i ALMOST failed that semester had i NOT been conscientious enough and too haughty to engage in any form of help.
Arghhh.
I practically have Nouns & Verbs
And might i add, I have a Grammar Test in about 2 weeks time.
Shite.
Today we navigated through a maze of finite and non-finite verbs PLUS transitive and intransitive verbs.
Verbs are generally a pain in the arse.
Here are some words to help explain the kinds of feelings that washed over me in the span of that 2 hours:
1) clammi-ness
2) helplessness
3) nausea
4) irritability
5) annoyance
On a lighter note; i've finally done it.
*Grins*
So lets hope i'll be committed this time round.

How would YOU feel about sitting for 4 hours of English lectures (most of which i've heard before in my undergrad days)
After having to stomach 2 hours of a class on verb phrases.
And you wonder why i signed up for this torture right?

This is a public plea for help, anyone who took creative thinking classes in U*IA, pls kindly lend me your notes.
I have to come up with an Ed. Psych paper on creative thinking in the S*ingapore context.
Now THAT should be fun.
