Lit. Classes

I think all of you know tht i love Lit like nobody's business.

I think its a handy skill to have.

And now that im in training to TEACH lit, its a totally different ball game now.

But the BEST thing that's happened since a long time is D*ennis Y*eo my Lit. shifu in N*IE now.

He's this awesome, off-the-beaten-track, i don't care if you say the wrong things, kinda teacher.

It is TOTALLY awesome and inspiring to be in his classes.

*can i just say i really dun wanna leave?*

And he's one of the best teacher's i've had in my less than 3 mth stint in N*IE.

We've been doing poetry the past few lessons and i have to make this clear, i don't really have an affinity for poetry.

I am a prose type of gal.

But he has structured his lessons in such a way that i am starting to love poetry.

How the **** is this possible!?

Has he gotten something embedded in my brain while i wasn't looking?

Nevertheless, hes like the awesomest teachers around.

He's got us writing poetry and reading poetry and i like the fact that he didn't do dry 17th century poetry right off the bat with us.

He started us off easy and is doing great stuff!

For the next lesson, he's got us looking for a pop (or any other genre) song that has the potential to be a poem, i.e. that has some form of structure and uses some literary device.

So now i am scrolling through my spartan collection of songs for use in his class on THURSDAY.

Cmon, arh, what kind of teacher gets you so excited to do his work at least a FULL day ahead of class?

Amazing right?

p/s: Nora you would adore the man. He's so insanely fantastic. I can safely say BETTER than Prof Q! *gasp*

Argghhh.

I feel stretched for time!

My bday's in a month's time.

Grammarian I Am NOT!

At this point in time i would like to point out to you that i DO not in any way enjoy being mentally tortured for 2 hours at a time, being explained the GRAMMAR rules in detail.

Not to mention the gajillion instances where there are exceptions to almost EVERY other rule.

So the point of creating the rule is??????

I just simply CANNOT fathom this phenomenon.

Even more torturous is the fact that I've DONE Michael H*alliday's Functional Grammar.

A course that i ALMOST failed that semester had i NOT been conscientious enough and too haughty to engage in any form of help.

Arghhh.

I practically have Nouns & Verbs oozing GUSHING out of my ears.

And might i add, I have a Grammar Test in about 2 weeks time.

Shite.

Today we navigated through a maze of finite and non-finite verbs PLUS transitive and intransitive verbs.

Verbs are generally a pain in the arse.

Here are some words to help explain the kinds of feelings that washed over me in the span of that 2 hours:

1) clammi-ness
2) helplessness
3) nausea
4) irritability
5) annoyance

On a lighter note; i've finally done it.

*Grins*

So lets hope i'll be committed this time round.

Irked and Seething.

I am completely, utterly, DUMBFOUNDED today.

I thought it was bad the day before.

But it was WORSE today!!!!

This being the holy month of Ramadhan, i cant imagine pple NOT taking advantage to do good and bring a little more into their life.

And WHAT did i see today on my way back from school after having to deal with 19 adolescents (who were clearly cranky and irritated cos they had Project Work to think about)???

I SAW A MAKCIK (in tudung no less) AND HER HUSBAND EATING AT A COFFEESHOP!!!

Can you believe the audacity of these orang tua?

I mean, here i am, even though i am unable to fast, I don't even go around eating publicly.
I practically go without eating the whole day EVEN when im not fasting 'cos there's simply nowhere i can eat in secretly.

Even if i do want to eat, I stash food into my bag making sure not even my brothers know and eating under complete secrecy, at home, in my room, with the curtains closed.

And there are these 2 ADULTS flaunting it.

I was sooo angrrrryyy!!!!!!

In the morning i was reading about all the commendable youths taking part in RYC events and then *BAM!* in the afternoon i see these two goons!

And rest assured, that wasn't the ONLY incident.

There were 2 pakciks who sit at the coffeeshop the whole day (this can be attested cos my sister saw them in the morning and saw them again at the very same place later in the evening) and happily drinking their teh tariks.

I mean COME ON!!!

Even a 5 yr old child who is NOT obligated to fast can go the whole day without food or drink.

So what's their excuse?!

Period?!

Arrrggghhh!!!

I mean if u got so much free time, go and do some amal ibadah lah!

I am soooo annnooooyyyyed and tiiireeed and irrriiitttaateed right now.

I simply LOATHE and have complete DISGUST for adults like these.

Takde perasaan MALU lagi ke dalam diri sendiri? What will OTHER pple from OTHER religions say?

This is why Muslims end up getting attacked at the end of the day.

People like this make the MAJORITY look bad.

Arrghhh.

Friends, especially those who have specialised in the realm of da'wah, how do i go about approaching these pple?

I have about half a mind to go up to the vendors and tell them NOT to sell food to these pple.

Suggestions pls!

May all our efforts and prayers this Ramadhan be answered and may Allah have Mercy on us all. Amiin.

"DID I MARRY THE RIGHT PERSON?

During one of our seminars, a woman asked a common question. She said, 'How do I know if I married the right person?' I noticed that there was a large man sitting next to her so I said, 'It depends. Is that your husband?' In all seriousness, she answered 'How do you know?' Let me answer this question because the chances are good that it's weighing on your mind. Here's the answer.

EVERY relationship has a cycle. In the beginning, you fell in love with your spouse / partner . You anticipated their call, wanted their touch, and liked their idiosyncrasies (unconventional behavior/habit).

Falling in love with your spouse wasn't hard. In fact, it was a completely natural and spontaneous experience. You didn't have to DO anything. That's why it's called 'falling' in love... Because it's happening TO YOU . People in love sometimes say, 'I was swept of my feet.' Think about the imagery of that __expression. It implies that you were just standing there; doing nothing, and then something came along and happened TO YOU .

Falling in love is easy. It's a passive and spontaneous experience. But after a few years of marriage, the euphoria (excitement) of love fades. It's the natural cycle of EVERY relationship . Slowly but surely, phone calls become a bother (if they come at all), touch is not always welcome (when it happens), and your spouse's idiosyncrasies , instead of being cute, drive you nuts.
The symptoms of this stage vary with every relationship, but if you think about your marriage, you will notice a dramatic difference between the initial stage when you were in love and a much duller or even angry subsequent stage.

At this point, you and/or your spouse might start asking, 'Did I marry the right person?' And as you and your spouse reflect on the euphoria of the love you once had, you may begin to desire that experience with someone else. This is when marriages breakdown . People blame their spouse for their unhappiness and look outside their marriage for fulfillment.

Extramarital fulfillment comes in all shapes and sizes. Infidelity is the most obvious. But sometimes people turn to work, a hobby, a friendship, excessive TV, or abusive substances. But the answer to this dilemma does NOT lie outside your marriage. It lies within it. I'm not saying that you couldn't fall in love with someone else. You could.
And TEMPORARILY you'd feel better. But you'd be in the same situation a few years later. Because (listen carefully to this):

THE KEY TO SUCCEEDING IN MARRIAGE IS NOT FINDING THE RIGHT PERSON; IT'S LEARNING TO LOVE THE PERSON YOU FOUND.

SUSTAINING love is not a passive or spontaneous experience. It'll NEVER just happen to you. You can't 'find' LASTING love. You have to 'make' it day in and day out. That's why we have the __expression 'the labor of love.' Because it takes time, effort, and energy . And most importantly, it takes WISDOM . You have to know WHAT TO DO to make your marriage work.
Make no mistake about it. Love is NOT a mystery. There are specific things you can do (with or without your spouse) to succeed with your marriage.

Just as there are physical laws of the universe (such as gravity), there are also laws for relationships.Just as the right diet and exercise program makes you physically stronger, certain habits in your relationship WILL make your marriage stronger. It's a direct cause and effect. If you know and apply the laws, the results are predictable... you can 'make' love .
Love in marriage is indeed a 'decision'... Not just a feeling.

Just to share. Make it work!

I've Got Some Things On My Mind...

Yes.

It has been bugging me for more than a week.

I can't stand keeping my mouth shut.

Not for fear.

It just bugs me thats all.

I just can't understand why there are individuals who can't stand up for themselves.

And how they push EVERYTHING away.

Pretending like its ok.

Pushing and pushing.

And then when its too late, they'll realise they've got nothing else BUT themselves.

Fine.

If that's how THEY want to live then so be it.

It annoys me how ONE person makes a whole lot of difference.

But not for the good of mankind.

Even when the rest has been there for them.

I guess not.

Oh PLUS

I can't understand why people keep giving chances to others when they've already Fcuk-ed up their life.

Not once.

Not twice.

Not even three times but more.

Shouldn't they have gotten the boot by now?

3 times warrants for a strike doesn't it?

I'm sorry but i just couldn't look at ur face.

Because YOU really disgust me.

How u've hurt pple.

And how u've taken advantage of others.

But most of all,

I cant get why YOU set up yourself to get hurt again.

Now that i've got that all off my chest,

I feel relatively better.
